Excerpt: ... the public school laws of maryland as contained in the maryland code of public general laws of 1912, and subsequent amendments. passed at the january session, 1872, amended at the january session, 1874, 1884, 1886, 1888, 1890, 1892, 1894, 1896, 1898, 1900, 1902, 1904, 1906, 1908, 1910, 1912 and 1914. constitution of 1867 article viii. education. Section 1. The General Assembly, at its first session after the adoption of this constitution, shall by law establish throughout the State a thorough and efficient system of free public schools; and shall provide by taxation, or otherwise, for their maintenance. Clark vs. Md. Institute, 87 Md., 661. Section 2. The systerrj of public schools, as now constituted, shall remain in force until the end of the said first session of the General Assembly, and shall then expire, except so far as adopted or continued by the General Assembly.
