Over a period of fifty years, the quantum-classical or semi-classical theories have been among the most popular for calculations of rates and cross sections for many dynamical processes: energy transfer, chemical reactions, photodissociation, surface dynamics, reactions in clusters and solutions, etc. These processes are important in the simulation of kinetics of processes in plasma chemistry, chemical reactors, chemical or gas lasers, atmospheric and interstellar chemistry, as well as various industrial processes. This book gives an overview of quantum-classical methods that are currently used for a theoretical description of these molecular processes. It gives the theoretical background for the derivation of the theories from first principles. Enough details are provided to allow numerical implementation of the methods. The book gives the necessary background for understanding the approximations behind the methods and the working schemes for treating energy transfer processes from diatomic to polyatomic molecules, reactions at surfaces, non-adiabatic processes, and chemical reactions.

There is an uncanny resemblance between Christianity in the middle ages and Physics in the twenty-first century. Formerly, the common man could neither read nor understand the scriptures, as they were written in Latin; the clergy had to interpret the scriptures for the laity with predictable results. Physics in the twenty-first century is similar. Only mathematicians with doctoral degree can understand the universe and how it works, to the rest of mankind the universe is an area of darkness. This is not by any means a desirable development. As human beings, we are all sentient individuals and as such are expected to enquire about our environment, the world around us, and the universe we live in. On a fundamental philosophical basis, it is wrong to believe that such knowledge, whether by circumstance or by design, is limited to a privileged few. This book explains the universe for the first time in a way that is comprehensible to everyone. Neo-classical physics undertakes the study of the behaviour of the universe as an entity, and the physics of sub-atomic particles is easy to understand in everyday terms. Neo-classical physics is the language that sets you free – free to see, free to comprehend and free to wonder anew.

Unraveling the Cosmic Tapestry: In the enigmatic realm of physics, where uncertainty and probability waltz, a groundbreaking theory emerges-one that transcends the boundaries of quantum mechanics and classical physics. Welcome to "Aprile's Unifications with Certainty." This thought-provoking book will inspire a new level of reasoning and reshape your understanding of the cosmos. Traditional physics research can be challenging for non-experts due to its mathematical complexity. This work aims to be accessible to both scholars and novices. By emphasizing intuitive explanations, it bridges the gap between theory and understanding. By connecting accepted ideas, Certainty provides a fresh perspective and deepens our understanding of fundamental principles. Synopsis: Charles Aprile, a brilliant theorist, embarks on a quest to reconcile seemingly incompatible theories. His journey takes him from the subatomic realms of uncertainty and wave functions to the predictability of classical theory and Einstein's Relativity. Along the way, he discovers that the uncertainty principle-the bedrock of quantum theory-is but one extreme of a grander cosmic truth. With elegant simplicity, Aprile redefines existing accepted theories as a cohesive field of physics. His Certainty Principle bridges the gap between known concepts-such as electromagnetic bonds and energy transfer-creating undeniable certainty. Like a cosmic thread, this certainty weaves quantum and classical theories into a seamless fabric, transcending uncertainty and unraveling the mysteries of the quantum unknown. Aprile's insights rewrite the cosmic score, harmonizing quantum melodies with classical symphonies. He unveils that time itself emerges from the fabric of certainty woven into the very spacetime continuum. Cosmic clocks tick, moments dilate, and Zeno's famous paradox finds resolution-all consequences of certainty redefining fundamental parameters. Prepare to embark on a mind-expanding journey-one that challenges your preconceptions and invites you to explore the cosmic tapestry through Aprile's visionary lens. The Ultimate Truth: As the scientific community grapples with Aprile's revelation, the universe beckons. Certainty-the silent conductor orchestrating the cosmic symphony-holds the key. Within its unwavering grasp lies the essence of the universe itself. Prepare to embark on a mind-bending odyssey-a voyage where certainty illuminates the cosmos, and the quantum veil lifts.

It is unanimously accepted that the quantum and the classical descriptions of the physical reality are very different, although any quantum process is "mysteriously" transformed through measurement into an observable classical event. Beyond the conceptual differences, quantum and classical physics have a lot in common. And, more important, there are classical and quantum phenomena that are similar although they occur in completely different contexts. For example, the Schrödinger equation has the same mathematical form as the Helmholtz equation, there is an uncertainty relation in optics very similar to that in quantum mechanics, and so on; the list of examples is very long. Quantum-classical analogies have been used in recent years to study many quantum laws or phenomena at the macroscopic scale, to design and simulate mesoscopic devices at the macroscopic scale, to implement quantum computer algorithms with classical means, etc. On the other hand, the new forms of light – localized light, frozen light – seem to have more in common with solid state physics than with classical optics. So these analogies are a valuable tool in the quest to understand quantum phenomena and in the search for new (quantum or classical) applications, especially in the area of quantum devices and computing.

Physical situations in which quantum systems communicate continuously to their classically described environment are not covered by contemporary quantum theory, which requires a temporary separation of quantum degrees of freedom from classical ones. A generalization would be needed to cover these situations. An incomplete proposal is advanced for combining the quantum and classical degrees of freedom into a unified objective description. It is based on the use of certain quantum-classical structures of light that arise from gauge invariance to coordinate the quantum and classical degrees of freedom. Also discussed is the question of where experimenters should look to find phenomena pertaining to the quantum-classical connection. 17 refs.

Quantum Theory written by David Bohm and has been published by Dover Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1989-05-01 with Science categories.

This superb text by David Bohm, formerly Princeton University and Emeritus Professor of Theoretical Physics at Birkbeck College, University of London, provides a formulation of the quantum theory in terms of qualitative and imaginative concepts that have evolved outside and beyond classical theory. Although it presents the main ideas of quantum theory essentially in nonmathematical terms, it follows these with a broad range of specific applications that are worked out in considerable mathematical detail. Addressed primarily to advanced undergraduate students, the text begins with a study of the physical formulation of the quantum theory, from its origin and early development through an analysis of wave vs. particle properties of matter. In Part II, Professor Bohm addresses the mathematical formulation of the quantum theory, examining wave functions, operators, Schrödinger's equation, fluctuations, correlations, and eigenfunctions. Part III takes up applications to simple systems and further extensions of quantum theory formulation, including matrix formulation and spin and angular momentum. Parts IV and V explore the methods of approximate solution of Schrödinger's equation and the theory of scattering. In Part VI, the process of measurement is examined along with the relationship between quantum and classical concepts. Throughout the text, Professor Bohm places strong emphasis on showing how the quantum theory can be developed in a natural way, starting from the previously existing classical theory and going step by step through the experimental facts and theoretical lines of reasoning which led to replacement of the classical theory by the quantum theory.

This volume is intended as a systematic introduction to gauge field theory for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in high energy physics. The discussion is restricted to the classical (non-quantum) theory in Minkowski spacetime. Particular attention has been given to conceptual aspects of field theory, accurate definitions of basic physical notions, and thorough analysis of exact solutions to the equations of motion for interacting systems.
