Politics And Statecraft In The Kingdom Of Greece 1833 1843 written by John Anthony Petropulos and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-08 with Political Science categories.

Three foreign-oriented political parties-Russian, French, and English-emerged during the Greek Revolutionary period from 1821 to 1827 and played a prominent role in Greek politics until the 1850's. Little has been known or written about the activities of these parties between 1833 and 1843, when a newly established monarchy under the Bavarian King Otho was attempting to lay the foundations of a new state. It is one of the purposes of this book to locate and classify the parties, to determine their membership, to analyze their institutional structure and societal function, and to discover why their chief identifying characteristic was their foreign orientation. The author seeks to determine the role of the parties under a nonconstitutionalist regime at a time when the basic structure of the Greek state was being created. Originally published in 1968. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Force And Statecraft written by Paul Gordon Lauren and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Diplomacy categories.

Force and Statecraft: Diplomatic Challenges of Our Time, Fifth Edition, is a concise historical discussion and insightful analysis of diplomacy. It uniquely combines history, political science, and international law in order to explore how lessons from the rich experience of the past can be brought to bear on the diplomatic challenges that we confront in our world today. This new edition combines the cumulative insights and reflections of three internationally renowned scholars--who have written more than fifty books between them--with an astute, stimulating, and up-to-date treatment of recent global developments. These include American foreign policy, the rise of China, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction in North Korea, and nuclear enrichment in Iran. Significant attention is given to the powerful impact of technology on the "digital revolution," the revolution in military affairs (RMA), drones, eDiplomacy, the "information revolution," cyber security and WikiLeaks, command and control, surveillance and reconnaissance, and social networking sites. This edition also provides a sophisticated and thought-provoking analysis of "hard" and "soft" power, the "invisibility of security," human rights, ethics, law, legitimacy, and the threat and use of force as an instrument of statecraft.

Religious Statecraft written by Mohammad Ayatollahi Tabaar and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-08 with Religion categories.

Since the 1979 revolution, scholars and policy makers alike have tended to see Iranian political actors as religiously driven—dedicated to overturning the international order in line with a theologically prescribed outlook. This provocative book argues that such views have the link between religious ideology and political order in Iran backwards. Religious Statecraft examines the politics of Islam, rather than political Islam, to achieve a new understanding of Iranian politics and its ideological contradictions. Mohammad Ayatollahi Tabaar traces half a century of shifting Islamist doctrines against the backdrop of Iran’s factional and international politics, demonstrating that religious narratives in Iran can change rapidly, frequently, and dramatically in accordance with elites’ threat perceptions. He argues that the Islamists’ gambit to capture the state depended on attaining a monopoly over the use of religious narratives. Tabaar explains how competing political actors strategically develop and deploy Shi’a-inspired ideologies to gain credibility, constrain political rivals, and raise mass support. He also challenges readers to rethink conventional wisdom regarding the revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, the U.S. embassy hostage crisis, the Iran-Iraq War, the Green Movement, nuclear politics, and U.S.–Iran relations. Based on a micro-level analysis of postrevolutionary Iranian media and recently declassified documents as well as theological journals and political memoirs, Religious Statecraft constructs a new picture of Iranian politics in which power drives Islamist ideology.
