Everyone's familiar with manufacturing offshoring by now. But a different phenomenon will soon drive even more powerful changes: the globalization of services. Until now, it's been virtually impossible to get a clear picture of what's going on, where, and why. Where are the jobs going? Which companies benefit -- or could benefit? How, exactly, does services offshoring work? Who makes a good partner? What are the public policy implications? The Services Shift answers all these questions and more, offering powerful insights for managers, policymakers, and citizens alike. Two leading researchers reveal how services offshoring is working in both industries and individual companies, and show how to define and implement realistic services sourcing goals. You'll review the types of players involved in services offshoring, and understand its geographical centers, from China and India to Hungary, Russia, Morocco, Brazil, South Africa, and Mauritius. Drawing on detailed interviews with dozens of participants, the authors review the management skillsets associated with successful services offshoring. Next, they review policy initiatives in both developing and developed countries, and assess U.S. policy initiatives aimed at restricting offshoring. Next, they review policy initiatives in both developing and developed countries, and assess U.S. policy initiatives aimed at restricting offshoring. Finally, the authors preview emerging trends in services globalization.

The introductory chapter consists of four sections. In Sect. 1. 1 we reveal the c- rent situation in hospitals that is faced by the management. We address the general issue of personnel scheduling in the service industry in Sect. 1. 2. Then we motivate our research by considering physicians as the scheduling object. In particular, we show the complex nature of physician scheduling in a hospital environment. The focus of the research is presented in Sect. 1. 3. Finally, we conclude the chapter by illustrating the outline of the thesis. 1. 1 General Economic Situation in Hospitals The mounting pressure in the health care industry to reduce costs is forcing hos- tals and related facilities to take a closer look at their staf?ng policies (see [111]). A primary dif?culty in reducing personnel costs, the major component of the budget, is the variability in demand and the need to assign staff to ?xed shifts. Furthermore, government run facilities, especially those in the European Union, are seeing their budgets cut in terms of real dollars despite an aging and more acutely ill patient population (e. g. , see [96]). It has been reported that up to a third of the hospitals in Germanyplan a reductionin staff (see [91]). The schedulingprocess is furtherc- plicated by the generally recognized importance of taking individual preferences intoaccount. Moreattractiveschedulespromotejobsatisfaction,increaseproduct- ity,and reduceturnover(cf. [2]). However, withoutimprovedschedulingprocedures that better match supplyto demand, the level of care that theynow providewill soon become unsustainable. 1.

Understand what’s required to deliver top-of-the-line customer experiences As organizations around the world do their best to deliver meaningful, effective, and efficient customer experiences, many are encountering difficulty translating their actions into progress. These businesses find that, despite a plethora of initiatives, programs, and plans, inclusive and excellent customer service remains stubbornly out of reach. In Shift: Transform Motion into Progress in Business, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officers at Merkle and dentsu offer business leaders a practical and coherent approach to creating the consistently exceptional customer experience that would set their business apart from the competition. The authors link three key themes—a clear vision with clear performance indicators, an aligned team, and a deep understanding of the marketplace—and outline their importance in the quest for the ideal client experience. They explain the importance of measuring progress through the eyes of the customer and ensuring that the measures that matter to customers are improving. A necessary addition to the reading lists of innovation and business development professionals, Shift deserves a place on the bookshelves of managers, executives, and other business leaders attempting to set their organization apart from the competition.

All organizations are becoming service organizations. But most weren't built to deliver services successfully end-to-end, and the human, operational and financial impacts are abundantly clear. In the digital era the stakes are even higher, given how rapidly services change. Yet default working practices (governance, planning, funding, leadership, reporting, programme and team structures) inside large organizations haven't changed. Rather than modernize just one service at a time, it's the underlying organizational conditions that need to be transformed - anything less is futile. The Service Organization is the result of years of research and consulting, as well as dozens of interviews with executives. It explores significant challenges that leaders will recognize, and turns them into solvable puzzles by providing practical advice and tools that reimagine what the organization does from the perspective of its customers - and it organizes the activity needed to deliver the best outcomes. This book is for everyone involved, from designers to technologists and from operational staff to policymakers and leaders. It includes surprisingly simple and doable, but non-obvious, steps that don't depend on seniority or pay band and that are typically overlooked by even the most progressive professions, teams and companies. Kate Tarling sets a bold, ambitious and practical agenda for all service organizations. Her book is full of behind-the-scenes examples from the global companies, public sector bodies and non-profits that are now delivering and leading successful services. It shows how to reinvent organizations so they rely not just on 'transforming technology' but on putting the success of their services at the heart of how they operate.

Text Analysis For The Social Sciences written by Carl W. Roberts and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-24 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This book provides descriptions and illustrations of cutting-edge text analysis methods for communication and marketing research; cultural, historical-comparative, and event analysis; curriculum evaluation; psychological diagnosis; language development research; and for any research in which statistical inferences are drawn from samples of texts. Although the book is accessible to readers having no experience with content analysis, the text analysis expert will find substantial new material in its pages. In particular, this collection describes developments in semantic and network text analysis methodologies that heretofore have been accessible only among a smattering of methodology journals. The book's international and cross-disciplinary content illustrates the breadth of quantitative text analysis applications. These applications demonstrate the methods' utility for international research, as well as for practitioners from the fields of sociology, political science, journalism/communication, computer science, marketing, education, and English. This is an "ecumenical" collection that contains applications not only of the most recent semantic and network text analysis methods, but also of the more traditional thematic method of text analysis. In fact, it is originally with this volume that these two "relational" approaches to text analysis are defined and contrasted with more traditional "thematic" text analysis methods. The emphasis here is on application. The book's chapters provide guidance regarding the sorts of inferences that each method affords, and up-to-date descriptions of the human and technological resources required to apply the methods. Its purpose is as a resource for making quantitative text analysis methods more accessible to social science researchers.
