It provides a thorough background and history of ESG investing, as well as cutting-edge industry developments, introducing the reader to the rapidly evolving field of responsible investing. Building on the first edition, this second edition provides updates where appropriate, as well as new emphasis on the development of standards in terminology and metrics. Opening with the background of ESG investing, the book discusses the development of ESG risks and provides an overview of ESG rating systems. It outlines the current position of ESG investing in portfolio management through granular analysis, offers insight into common investor concerns about ESG investments, presents qualitative theories, and reviews literature modeling ESG investment performance. Finally, the authors provide readers with a foundation on the development of financial models measuring risk and return, which can be used to evaluate the performance of ESG investments. This edition features updated statistics and a new chapter on regulation, reporting, and taxonomy in ESG investing, as well as new international case studies. Following a summary approach, Responsible Investing is a valuable textbook, providing a context in which upper-level students of ESG investment and sustainable finance can specialize.

The Growing Trend Of Living Small written by Ella Harris (Sociologist) and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-31 with Domestic relations categories.

This book examines the growing trend for housing models that shrink private living space and seeks to understand the implications of these shrinking domestic worlds. Small spaces have become big business. Reducing the size of our homes, and the amount of stuff within them, is increasingly sold as a catch-all solution to the stresses of modern life and the need to reduce our carbon footprint. Shrinking living space is being repackaged in a neoliberal capitalist context as a lifestyle choice rather than the consequence of diminishing choice in the face of what has become a long-term housing 'crisis'. What does this mean for how we live in the long term, and is there a dark side to the promise of a simpler, more sustainable home life? Shrinking Domesticities brings together research from across the social sciences, planning and architecture to explore these issues. From co-living developments to the Tiny House movement, self-storage units to practices of 'de-stuffification', and drawing on examples from across Europe, North America and Australasia, the authors of this volume seek to understand both what micro-living is bringing to our societies, and what it may be eroding.

World Regional And Cultural Footprints And Environmental Sustainability written by Ebenezer O. Aka and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-04-26 with Science categories.

The book examines the issues of sustainability in general. It addresses various socioeconomic determinants of ecological footprints in different world’s nations, regions, and cultures. Major socioeconomic determinants of ecological footprints are fleshed out using Comparative Model Analysis and rigorous Multiple Regression Analysis. The study exposes the inequitable distribution of the world’s ecological footprints and also heightens the concern about ecological imbalances and overshoots. It explains how sustainable development can be promoted and achieved in regional, national, and local jurisdictions. The study provides information that will likely help various governments and policy-makers determine if a given nation, region, or culture is on a sustainable path. It helps government leaders, planners, policy-makers, and even students of sustainability make a difference in mitigating the effects of various environmental stressors. If this book makes people and policy-makers in different countries, regions, and cultures think globally but act locally, then the objectives are well-served.

THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER *Thrilling and essential pre-election reading from one of our most influential economists* 'No one has done more to re-inject sanity into our national policy debates' EMILY MAITLIS 'Stellar ... a wonderful opportunity for an incoming government' RORY STEWART There are few who are better placed to investigate Britain’s plight than Torsten Bell, former Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation and current Labour candidate for Swansea West. In Great Britain? he offers both a clear-eyed diagnosis of the problems facing our country – a uniquely toxic combination of huge inequality and stagnant economic growth – and a hopeful, bold vision for the alternative. This treasure trove of enlightening and original analysis argues that our era of chaos and cynicism needs neither utopianism nor nostalgia, but a practical patriotism to raise living standards and create a more equal country. Torsten Bell passionately points us towards a Britain that we can actually build – a future worth fighting for. ‘An incisive, upbeat vision of how a Labour government could turn things around' Observer 'A dose of Torstenomics is the only thing that can give us hope’ AMOL RAJAN 'Spiced with wit, this is a masterful, fact-packed ... prescription for a great social and economic restoration' POLLY TOYNBEE

The Environmental Audit Committee states that the UK should only provide funding for multilateral institutions with strong environmental credentials. The current scale of the World Bank's lending to fossil fuel powered energy generation is unacceptable and the Committee urges the Government to be prepared to vote against new World Bank funding for high emissions coal-fired power stations. The profile of climate change has increased hugely but there is far less awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity and ecosystems. The Committee believes that the Department for International Development (DFID) needs to publish a clear strategy on its approach to environmental issues to ensure that it gives them sufficient priority in its programmes and expenditure. Every effort must be made to help emerging economies leap-frog fossil fuels and fuel their growth with clean energy instead. High levels of consumption in the UK increases demand on production in poor countries which leads to degradation of their natural resources. The report calls on the UK Government to ensure that economic activity in Britain does not cancel out, or even reverse, the positive impact that UK aid is having overseas.

Cancel The Apocalypse written by Andrew Simms and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-28 with Social Science categories.

Ever get the feeling that things are falling apart? You're not alone. From bad banks to global warming it can all look hopeless, but what if everything could turn out, well, even better than before? What if the only thing holding us back is a lack of imagination and a surplus of old orthodoxies? In fascinating and iconoclastic detail - on everything from the cash in your pocket to the food on your plate and the shape of our working lives - Cancel the Apocalypse describes how the relentless race for economic growth is not always one worth winning, how excessive materialism has come at a terrible cost to our environment, and hasn't even made us any happier in the process. Simms believes passionately in the human capacity for change, and shows how the good life remains in our grasp. While global warming and financial meltdown might feel like modern day horsemen of the apocalypse, Simms shows how such end of the world scenarios offer us the chance for a new beginning.
