The Stars Change: an erotic science fiction novel-in-stories. On a South Asian-settled university planet, tensions are rising, and as they reach the brink of interstellar war, life (and sex) continues. Humans, aliens, and modified humans gather at the University of All Worlds in search of knowledge... and self-knowledge... but the first bomb has fallen and the fate of this multicultural, multispecies mecca is in question. Some people will seek solace in physical contact, some will look for spiritual answers, while others will find their strength in community, family, and love. Some will rush home to make love to their wife. Or wives. Or husbands. Or indeterminate gender human and/or alien partners. Others will be forced to decide where they stand -- what is worth fighting for, or maybe even worth dying for. In The Stars Change, author Mary Anne Mohanraj presents a multi-layered, thought-provoking, and far-reaching work on sexuality and the connections between people--whether male or female, human or alien. The Stars Change is part space opera, part literary mosaic of story, poem, and art. It is fitting that a book that emphasizes the power of community was funded through Kickstarter. Begun as a project entitled "Demi Monde," The Stars Change is the result of the money raised by supporters that went to pay for not only the art and illustrations in the book, but the author's time, allowing her to focus on writing for that crucial interval. About the Author: Mary Anne Mohanraj is the author of Bodies in Motion, Sri Lankan-American linked stories (HarperCollins), as well as Silence and the Word, The Best of Strange Horizons (ed.), Aqua Erotica (ed.), and The Poet's Journey (a children's fantasy picture book). Bodies in Motion was a finalist for the Asian-American Book Awards and has been translated into six languages. Mohanraj received an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Prose (2006). Mohanraj lives in Chicago, where she teaches creative writing and post-colonial literature at the University of Illinois; she also taught at the Clarion workshop in 2008. She is a graduate of Clarion West, and holds an MFA and a Ph.D. in creative writing.

This first work is a coming out party of poetry. And the party is all about our individual lives - things we have seen and the wonderful people that have influenced us. Come join in the affair and enjoy all the artfully arranged verses with words of flare. Even someone who wouldn't consider themselves as poetry fan should consider this book. The poems are relatively short and to the point. It isn't at all dry and overly drawn out. If you've read and enjoyed poems of Langston Hughes, then you will appreciate this compilation. Each poem was written with words that evoke emotion and imagery- the author did not resist the rich reservoir of beautiful words.

Jessiah will do whatever it takes to save his people—lying, spying or even selling his body. A book written hundreds of years ago holds the key to the future of the last survivors of the human race. Growing up in a massive underground cave network, Jessiah has never known any other world. When he discovers the existence of a time portal, he enlists the help of his friends to expose the truth about the greedy scientists who control it. Garrett has no head for science and struggles to earn the respect of both his peers and his father. With a taste for parties and whores, Garrett is the chosen target for Jessiah and his friends to gain access to the laboratory containing the time portal. Impatient and impulsive, Jessiah decides to move things along at a faster pace by playing the role of a prostitute to get close to Garrett. He is prepared to sacrifice his virginity for their cause, but he doesn't plan on falling for Garrett in the process. With the future of the human race in the balance, the stakes for humanity are high. With his heart on the line, the risk Jessiah takes might be even higher. Only together can Jessiah and Garrett change the stars of everyone in the caverns.

To change your stars, you have to do things differently. The power of sin is to separate us from God. He is the only One we can go to if we want a better outcome than the one we are headed toward now. God's greatest miracle is the changed heart. A changed destination only becomes possible for the person willing to have a changed heart. Have you made Jesus the Lord of your life yet? If He's not Lord of all, He's not Lord at all. Surrender your choices to Him, and you'll have made the best choice. Ever wish things had turned out differently for you? It's not too late. More than just another self-help book, Changing Your Stars is about choosing a different destiny. In each chapter, Alan discusses a different power that you can use to implement change, such as the power of forgiveness and the power of habit. Dig deep within yourself to answer the interactive questions at the end of each chapter, and be prepared for what you might find out about yourself. Alan Sargent takes the gloves off and provides the reader with guidance for lasting change.

The Brightness Of Stars Stories From Care Experienced Adults To Inspire Change written by Lisa Cherry and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-07-14 with Education categories.

In this poignant book, Lisa Cherry brings together a collection of candid and personal reflections on the care system in the UK, offering alternative ways of thinking about the care experience, supporting better ways of working, and providing justification for a trauma-informed lens to be applied to all forms of work with those in care. Through personal insights and reflections, the book brings often-unheard stories vividly to life, beginning with the author’s own. These are stories about love and pain; hurt and isolation; the depth of lived experience that makes up a life; how we live our lives through our relationships with others and where we feel we fit in. In this thoughtfully compiled third edition, original contributors look back on their own reflections from the lives that they live now, new stories bring new perspectives, and discussion points provide the opportunity to consider the realities of the care experience as well as life beyond. Whilst each story is unique, shared themes reveal the truth of the care system and, coming at a time where there is a real opportunity for change, the narratives in this book are ultimately stories of hope and connection. This is crucial reading for policy makers, those working in social work, education and adoption, as well as care experienced adults.

As Many As The Stars written by Robert Glover and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-15 with Religion categories.

'There are a few rare occasions in life, when events seem to conspire in a profound and extraordinary way. In those moments God pulls back the curtain on his plans and you get to see a glimpse of what he has in store in you. In the end you are clearer on your life's purpose and destiny. This was one of those moments.' AS MANY AS THE STARS tells the story of how one man moved with his wife and six young children from the UK to China to follow God's call. Robert Glover was a social worker in the East of England who went on to radically transform Chinese government's policy on care welfare. In conversations with the Chinese government Robert fought to show that family-based fostering and adoption was a better alternative to the system of state-sponsored orphanages. In 1998, Robert pioneered the first small pilot project in Shanghai. In the same year Care for Children was founded as a charity as the first joint venture social welfare project between the British and Chinese governments. The goal was to provide skills and knowledge to local staff that could eventually impact many thousands of orphans in China. Robert had a big vision but continued to trust God in his plans. Now Robert's charity Care for Children has reached their goal of getting ONE MILLION children fostered or adopted, which is 85% of the children in the state-run institutions and they have since expanded into Thailand and Vietnam. Told with humour & simplicity AS MANY AS THE STARS gives a deeper understanding of the importance of families in God's plan; God's deep concern for the plight of the orphan and the poor; how to live with greater compassion, generosity and courage to share the love of Christ with a needy world.

A beautifully illustrated title looking at the many different processes of change in the natural world, from a universal scale, down to the tiniest life cycle. Some changes come in cycles, and others are lasting. Some happen before our eyes, while others happen so slowly that we won't notice the change in our lifetimes. Each spread focuses on a different aspect of change, and covering geology, ecology, biology and more, with a mix of full-bleed illustrations and spot illustrations. Rather than taking a solely scientific look at the subject, this book embraces the philosophical topic of change, too. How do we approach changes that make us feel sad? How do we cope with changes we can't control? If everything changes, where do we find meaning? A lyrical and aesthetically pleasing book for children to explore independently or with parents.
