An informer who is convinced he is with the C.I.A.; John and Blue, two inmates with an axe to grind; Alexander, who refused to be strip-searched; and the Dough Boy, a jovial burglar: these are some of the residents of the Steel-Bar Motel. Correctional training captain Ed Fedorowich has written a tough poignant, often funny and nearly always tragic memoir of his years at the now-defunct Seyms Street Jail in Hartford, Connecticut. These are real stories about real people, and their hopes, dreams and quirks. These are stories you won’t soon forget.

One of the oldest cities in America, Hartford holds plenty of sinful stories. Famed inventor and industrialist Samuel Colt sold arms to both the North and South in the buildup to the Civil War. The notorious Seyms Street jail was the subject of national criticism and scandal for its deplorable conditions. Local journalist Daniel Birdsall fought to expose corruption in the powerful insurance industry and local government at the expense of his own printing presses. Tension between unions and "robber barons" such as Jay Gould spilled into the streets during the Gilded Age. Author Steve Thornton takes readers on an exciting journey through the seedy underbelly of Hartford's past.

She occasionally reminisces about the South while embracing her unexpected and newfound life in the Entertainment Capital of the World. Stefany celebrates the differences between two distinct slices of Americana, illustrates relationship dynamics, weaves in painless Vegas history, and muses of other things interesting and irrelevant. Stefany's inspired approach to storytelling blends stream-of-consciousness thoughts with a unique style of observation. How many of these did you need me to buy?"-- Stefany's mom "The only thing subtle about her is her insults." -- Stefany's "Driver" "I bet this is a great sequel!" -- Said no one (yet) "Gayle, where's our cooler? Book Club's taking a road trip to Vegas." -- what Stefany thinks Oprah would say "Happiness is being on a plane with Wayne Newton." -- Stefany

The Pizzutos written by Franco La Monica and has been published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-29 with Drama categories.

This book is a semibiographical novel of the Pizzutos, a unique and funny couple from Mamaroneck, New York. It recalls their lives and how close they always were in physical proximity from each other, until destiny united them in 1980. They side swiped each other at the fork of destiny's road and fused into the Pizzutos. Hysterically comical in parts, this book evolves into many separate recollections of what actually happened to them since they moved into the home that they resided in for the last thirty years. As destiny would have it, they were childless. The two cats in this book can be found buried in the backyard alongside another cat called Goldie and other pets, including goldfish and other critters. All the names have been changed, but all their relatives know who they are. Lots of laughs. This book is basically a sequel to the author's last novel called Little Jimmy. Anyhow, it has all the flavors of very odd situational comedy, embedded in nonconventional spirituality. In addition, it reveals how destiny has its way with us all. Read it by candlelight, preferably on a rocking chair in front of a lit fireplace. If one does not have a fireplace, they can tuck themselves in bed, read themselves to sleep, and begin to dream dreams just like the Pizzutos did. If one likes to laugh and still enjoys a good easy read, this novel contains both qualities!

The War Within written by Don Tate and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-02-20 with Fiction categories.

The War Within is a complex, virtuoso analysis of an Australian life written by an unabashed and unrepentant author- an acidic dissertation on the roles of genes, environment and litany of trauma play in developing a person's character, and at the same time, a sauntering chronicle of social mores. In turn, we follow the life of the author as he comes to terms with male status anxiety- apparently inexhaustible in its capacity to cause suffering. Along the way, Tate examines the dark crevices of the male psyche as he battles inner demons from the Vietnam War and the unconditional love of his beautiful Christian Wife, Carole. Above all, this memoir is a celebration of the human condition, of a man with a can-do, cavalier attitude to life and is an outstanding contribution to Australia's rich heritage of memoir.
