There is a growing trend today for some Christians to study the wisdom of the Taoist classics. During my research of the philosophies of ancient China, I began to find what looked like Christian principles within the symbolism of Taoist thoughts on creation and life. So what did the Chinese believe in for the two thousand years before Taoism existed? I believe that the answer may be found in the old testament of the Holy Bible. The principles of Christianity exist heavily in Taoist thought as well as the Chinese written language. This book is not another rewritten Tao Te Ching, but a study of Taoist principles used in martial arts, Chinese medicine, and philosophy and how they can apply to, and can sometimes explain Christian thought. If we are open minded enough, we can gain an even better understanding of God, creation and ourselves. To explain certain concepts, some excerpts are taken from my other books. Please keep an opened mind and read on.....

Lao Tzu and The Bible: A Meeting Transcending Time and Space Yuan Zhiming Translated by Chen Shangyu Has God's light ever shone on the vast land of China-"Land of God, ' so named by her ancient ancestors? This book vividly recaptures God's universal light shown to the Chinese sage Lao Tzu 600 years before Jesus was born. By comparing Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching with the Bible, Yuan Zhiming offers a ground-breaking interpretation of Lao Tzu's Tao in light of the Word, or Logos. Yuan Zhiming juxtaposes Lao Tzu's "Holy One" with Jesus Christ, systematically and thoroughly unveiling the nature and characteristics of the mysterious Tao in a concrete and understandable manner, resolving a riddle of 2,600 years. "The text speaks to our time, because so many people believe that mere secular teaching of "morality," such as Confucius taught, is sufficient, and because what we really need is a deep spiritual awakening, such as Lao Tzu announced. The profound teaching in Lao Tzu and the Bible enriches the spirit of not only the Chinese people but also the people of the West." -Dr. Paul de Vries, president of New York Divinity School and author of The Taming of the Shrewd Lao Tzu and the Bible offers not only a spiritual feast to the analytical minds about Tao/Word/Logos, illustrating Tao in a tangible form, the Holy One/Jesus Christ, but also provides helpful advice about how to follow and be united with Tao. A work of great erudition and wisdom, it contains deep insight, opening up the secrets of the Tao while also illuminating the Bible. This book will surely delight the hearts and minds of seekers of Tao.

The Tao And The Daimon written by Robert Cummings Neville and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1983-06-30 with Religion categories.

The Tao and the Daimon examines a central theme in religious studies: the question of the authority and authenticity of traditional religious faith and practice (tao) in light of the challenge from the spirit of critical reason (Socrates' daimon). From a non-judgmental, historical standpoint, it develops the dialectical relation between religion and rational inquiry. Neville employs a philosophical system to set a task for reflection, making it possible to see how Eastern and Western religious traditions differ, overlap, contradict, and reinforce one another. The central chapters are detailed studies of theologically interesting elements in Christianity, Buddhism, taoism, and Neoconfucianism. How can one judge of the higher truths of another religion without having practiced it? Can the tao and the daimon, after all, be reconciled purely in the conceptual realm of speculative philosophy? Neville recognizes the very real differences between conceptualizing and practicing and the very real differences in understanding that can result. At the same time, he transcends the problem by identifying (and exemplifying in his own work) speculative philosophy as a tao in itself, "a new locus of religious significance, our own scholarly interpretation, new creations of the holy out of practiced scholarly piety toward the old."

The End Of Divine Truthiness Love Power And God written by Paul Joseph Greene and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-01 with Religion categories.

In The End of Divine Truthiness, Paul Joseph Greene confronts stark realities of terrifying theologies that make a mockery out of divine love. With urgent resolve, Greene answers Martin Luther King, Jr.’s pointed challenge to overcome “reckless and abusive . . . power without love,” and “sentimental and anemic . . . love without power.” Too many theologies cast God either as the tyrant whose loveless power lifts up the mighty or the victim whose powerless love sends the poor away empty. Wielding Stephen Colbert’s word “truthiness” as a scalpel, Greene slices out one perilous theology after another to restore the wholesome truth that God is love. Supported by three world religions—Buddhism, Christianity, and Taoism—he discovers a remarkably harmonious and revolutionary divine power that is fully aligned with divine love. To reunify love and power here in the world, as King challenges, it is time to abandon ideologies of divine power that devastate divine love and promote atrocities. Greene’s call for “the end of divine truthiness” heralds a new day for the God whose love is power and whose power is love.
