The purpose of this book is to provide a conceptual map by which to understand the past, present and future ministry of Jesus Christ. More importantly, this book was written to help us understand our role in this ministry. Thus, this book is a multidimensional treatise on key doctrinal issues and a discipleship guide. The main point of the book is that the totality of God's work through Jesus Christ can be sorted into four main dimensions: FOR US, IN US, THROUGH US, and TO US. In addition to presenting a range of crucial bible topics for each dimension, the chapters also discuss how we should respond to the work of Christ. As a bible study aid, the four-dimension structure provides a means by which to view scriptures in harmony with each other by appreciating the multidimensional nature of biblical topics. Richard D. Harvey, Ph.D. is a bible teacher and writer who currently serves as the director of the Counseling and Leadership/Organizational Development ministries at Metro Christian Worship Center in St. Louis, Mo. He is also an Associate Professor of Psychology at Saint Louis University, where he teaches and conducts research across a range of topics from prejudice to collective identification. He also works as a management consultant, specializing in Strategic Planning and Program Evaluation. Finally, and most importantly, he serves and works at being a husband to Kim, and a father to Alexandra, Krystani, Jessica, and Zahra.

This book argues that God's mission is broad and that all of us can live with missional intentionality by understanding the many facets of missions and focusing on a particular calling. Just like different instruments of a symphony harmonize together, each aspect of human participation in mission--evangelism, justice initiatives, poverty alleviation, faithful work in the marketplace, art--helps us play our part in God's work in the world. Combining expertise from a mission scholar and a working pastor, the book includes practical examples and tools to help readers imagine their part in God's mission.

God’s Works Revealed presents a compelling, challenging, and joyful vision for living as a lesbian, gay, or bisexual Catholic today by accepting the divine gift of our sexuality and seeking to live the promises of our baptism. It draws from the deep well of traditional theology, Catholic teaching, and Sacred Scripture while also challenging assumptions that exclude LGB Catholics from the possibility of sexual expression, married life, and participation in the life of the Church. “Informed by theology and formed by the worship of the Church, Albano…engages in serious study and draws on some of the best thought on scripture and natural law theology that has formed his Church’s teaching on homosexuality and homosexual actions. He presents not so much a dismissal of what the Church teaches as a critical engagement with that teaching that will point out its insufficiencies and calls for further refinement and reflection. He insists that his experience and that of other gay and lesbian Catholics be taken seriously.” —from the foreword “After more than fifty years of ministry on behalf of LGBT Catholics, I have seen considerable developments in Christian understandings about sexuality and gender, which are challenging topics for politicians and Catholics alike. Written from the heart of a faith-filled Catholic gay man who is not a politician, these pages push sexual politics aside and speak to our heads and hearts in a sensible and compelling way. We’ll see with new eyes the gifts that persons of various sexual orientations bring to the Church. I recommend this book for all the people of God who are walking the path of synodality with Pope Francis.” —Jeannine Gramick, SL, author, and cofounder of New Ways Ministry for LGBT Catholics “God’s Works Revealed offers a respectful, well-argued critique of official teachings on homosexuality and the impact on the physical and spiritual lives of LGBTQI people. It is a deeply loving, thoughtful, and ultimately, hopeful dialogue between a gay Catholic and the Church that could open pathways to needed change. Here, you will find truths that speak to your soul.” —Marianne Duddy?Burke, executive director of DignityUSA

God S Love Is Like written by Rick Carrol and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-17 with Religion categories.

For some people, sadly the only parts of God and the church they know about are the ones that turn them off, like how people are judged, and how God gets angry. Author Pastor Rick Carrol acknowledges church leaders haven’t done the best job of telling the right stories. They’ve made people think the most important part about God is something other than the love he has for you. In God’s Love is Like ..., Carrol demonstrates that the totality of God’s love is so different than anything you’ve experienced in terms of loving each other. Yet in many ways, how you love others reveals small parts of how he loves you. Carrol shares fun stories and verses in the Bible that show how God loves you like: an artist; a patient grandparent; a kindergarten teacher; an honorable judge; an empathetic counselor; a proud parent; a broken-hearted love; a benevolent king; a jealous spouse; and an adoptive parent. God’s Love is Like ... creates an understanding of all the ways God really loves you, pulling from examples of your everyday relationships.

In this issue of The Ministry we include the final eight messages of "The Visions of Ezekiel concerning God's Economy" given during the 2001 fall term of the Full-time Training in Anaheim. The book of Ezekiel is composed of four main sections. The first section concerns the vision of the appearance of the Lord's glory. The next section concerns God's judgment both on His disobedient and wayward people and on the nations. The third section concerns the Lord's recovery by life. The first message of this volume deals with the vision of the throne above the clear sky. The highest point in our Christian experience and in our living as Christians in the church life is not simply to have a crystal-clear sky. We need to reach the highest point where we see the man on the throne and realize that God's goal is to have many men on the throne with Christ as the God-man. The last message of this series focuses on the last section of Ezekiel, on the vision of the holy building of God. Next to God Himself, this is perhaps the greatest matter in the Bible because it involves the totality of God's work in His economy through the ages to produce an expression of Himself. Last of all, we include a report of the first International Blending Conference in Accra, Ghana, held in March 2002.

Christ In The Old Testament written by Douglas Van Dorn and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-05 with categories.

Few subjects are as important, yet ignored or misapplied, as the one addressed in this book. Jesus Christ is the absolute center and focus of the totality of God's word. Many people confess this belief, since Jesus himself taught it (Luke 24:27; John 5:39). Christians have done well to see this on one or two levels. Yet, truly understanding just how primary he is as an actor-even in the Old Testament-is something few have considered. In this revised and expanded edition of From the Shadows to the Savior (2015), Douglas Van Dorn helps us see the light of Christ that emerges from the dark hallways of Scriptures that so many find outdated, unintelligible, and irrelevant for today's Church. Learn how Christ is found in such things as prophecy, typology, and the law. Then, come in for a deeper study of how the Person himself is actually present, walking, speaking, and acting, beginning in the very first book of the Bible. Learn how words such as "Word," "Name," "Glory," and "Wisdom" are all ideas that the Scripture itself attaches to Christ who in the OT is called The Angel of the LORD. Then see if such ideas don't radically change the way you think about all of God's word in this truly life-changing summary of Christ in the Old Testament. This edition contains three new chapters (Christ the Power, Christ the Face, and Christ the Shepherd), has been reworked to make sections even clearer, contains new resources, and study questions. It is the perfect book for a study guide on Christ in the Old Testament."A certain kind of delight comes over the Christian when he or she discovers glorious truths in the Bible that were somehow missed or misinterpreted throughout one's life. I experienced this many times in reading Pastor Van Dorn's insightful work. Surely, Christ is found throughout the Old Testament and his ministry precedes his achievements through the Incarnation."Douglas Groothuis (Ph.D.) Professor of Philosophy, Denver SeminaryAuthor of Christian Apologetics: A Comprehensive Case for Biblical Faith

Shaping The Church written by Martyn Percy and has been published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Religion categories.

Shaping the Church seeks to dynamically alter the way that theologians, ecclesiologists, students of religion and ministers look at the church. Taking the ideas of composition, formation and vocation as basic ecclesial categories, Martyn Percy explores how apparently innocent and incidental material is in fact highly significant for the shaping of theological and ecclesiological horizons. The Introduction sets the tone, with a meditation on how the apparently ordinary scent of a country church can be redolent with meaning, setting the tone of expectation in relation to subsequent worship. This book is not, however, simply about reading meanings into events, ideas, conversations and contexts. Rather, it sets out to faithfully interpret much of the material that surrounds us, yet is often taken for granted, or more usually unnoticed. The book is an invitation to involve the scholar or minister, paying close and patient attention to beliefs, language, artefacts, rituals, practices and other material - all of which are constitutive for ecclesial life and theological identity.
