All of them seek a way out at one time or another, But once it comes to light he soon will discover, That she longs to get away from him and break the chains, For the beatings continue and again your left in the pouring rain. This time being worse than the last, but you seem to stay, Looking in the mirror at yourself, not liking it this way, Your eyes are black and blue and your lips are cut deep, All that is left now is the pain and you being left to weep. I kept telling you to get away, for it will get worse each day, Knowing that I do not approve or like seeing you this way, Your tears are falling, as your screams get louder, more than before, This time my dear you had no idea, what was in store. How I knew it would go too far one day, how you were laid to rest, Remembering you vividly lying there, how beautiful you were dressed, That one cold day in December as they lowered you in the ground, Now being in a better place, you have left without a sound. It it called "A Woman of Strength" I need to tell you a story about a woman I know, Listen closely to this story as I let it flow, Alone in her room in the dark as the tears fall, Thinking about her life and how she gave it her all. Her mind has been so abused along with her face, With the black and blue marks, her swollen eyes, leaving only a trace, The hurt and pain from his hand, leaving the scars within, The tears fall from her eyes leaving her with nothing. How she tries to smile but the pain gets in the way, So many times I´ve tried to tell her not to stay, But she stayed anyway thinking everything would be fine, Knowing he´d be home soon, as she walked that thin line. Finally he came home and again she started to shake, So scared as you thought, how much more can you take? He raised his hand to you once again as you hid with fear, Wishing so hard it would all stop, including the tears. Once again, alone in your room, with your head in your hands, As the blood dripped down your face right where you stand, This time it went too far, as you fell to the floor, As you stood up, looking at him face to face, You told him to go to hell, walking out and forever closing the door.

For "Said the Poet" is an empowering read of many named and unnamed characters of shared lives along the way and will bring satisfaction of one's self upon the completion of the journey you will take in reading it, and the discussions you will have both negative and positive concerning these writings. And some may also find their own life comparisons and similarities within some of them, thus you, the reader, contributing to what "the poet" has said and your own life now being shared with many audiences as a poem. For much of mankind goes through the same ups and downs in this poem of life that we all live with different lifestyles as their title and various parts of the earth as their background scenes. But being able to see how someone else succumbs and overcomes in theirs and applying it to your own is poetry at its best.
