The world is too full of woe to listen to any tale of far-away wrongs, when the home situation is scarcely tolerable. To be heard at all above the wail of humanity, a special cause must have as its spokesman one who knows whereof he testifies, who can present the case calmly, justly, forcefully and without rancour. He ought, also, to be a person whose horizon is wider than the Korean's, or even that of the Far East, a man with weltanschauung and a mind that comprehends the meaning of world move ments as a great whole. Such a person is the author.
