The following poetry collection involves a compilation of poems about four main topics, of which the main catalyzer is love and hope. None have been previously published, although they have been orally shared amongst friends and family. They mainly speak about the ways in which family, friends, God, and the experience of falling in love have forged the author’s thankfulness for the experiences of studying in Germany, Finland, and Austria as a foreign student from Colombia. After having studied and worked in Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Austria, and England, David Caicedo Sarralde’s mother tongue became permanently intertwined with English—so much so that he views it as another mother tongue, which has given the wonderful opportunity to express a wider scope of feelings and emotions. These poems are mixed in English and Spanish, in which bilingual young adults could find a delightful taste. The author’s personal influences coming from Pablo Neruda’s romantic poems, or Reiner Maria Rilke, Jimmy Santiago Baca, Gastón Baquero, or Uncle Walt’s majestically hopeful perspective on life have also inspired him to write this book as a way to connect with the hearts of people who still believe in the unexplainable beauty of life, including falling in love, or even the faith in love at first sight.

Hope And The Longing For Utopia written by Daniel Boscaljon and has been published by James Clarke & Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-26 with Political Science categories.

At present the battle over who defines our future is being waged most publicly by secular and religious fundamentalists. 'Hope and the Longing for Utopia' offers an alternative position, disclosing a conceptual path toward potential worlds that resist a limited view of human potential and the gift of religion. In addition to outlining the value of embracing unknown potentialities, these twelve interdisciplinary essays explore why it has become crucial that we commit to hoping for values that resist traditional ideological commitments. Contextualized by contemporary writing on utopia, and drawing from a wealth of times and cultures ranging from Calvin's Geneva to early twentieth-century Japanese children's stories to Hollywood cinema, theseessays cumulatively disclose the fundamental importance of resisting tantalizing certainties while considering the importance of the unknown and unknowable. Beginning with a set of four essays outlining the importance of hope and utopia as diagnostic concepts, and following with four concrete examples, the collection ends with a set of essays that provide theological speculations on the need to embrace finitude and limitations in a world increasingly enframed by secularizing impulses. Overall, this book discloses how hope and utopia illuminate ways to think past simplified wishes for the future.

What if there was a secret city at work on finding answers to the survival of humanity? Technologies beyond your imagination; a city expanding, recruiting and evolving. There is no government, no money, no bosses, institutions, cars or roads; and age takes on new meaning. This "facity" is one big research product in and of itself, and nothing else quite like it exists on this Earth. This is the city that Erwin Sharp and his family are drawn into on the fringes of a national park. They fall headfirst down the rabbit hole into a world of space probes, cancer cures, and a core myth that defies belief. They soon realize that some doors are only meant to swing one way. This is a parable of trust and hope--a flashing beacon of hope in a world hell-bent on destroying itself. It is ultimately a story of ambition, of owning up to life, showing up and trading up. In a story that is as controversial as it is reassuring, sometimes it is possible to find something you always hoped existed, and in finding it, you confront your own truth as much as that of the world you live in. What is inside the mysterious Hall 8, and what does that have to do with Erwin? And how is water the mechanism of peace or destruction? Thick with adventure, revelations and twists, this story shows how what we accept is only that which we've been conditioned to accept, and why an ancient Mayan prophesy doesn't actually mean what you think.

Water Language written by Peter W. Gorham and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-05 with Poetry categories.

In Water Language Peter Gorham links together a diverse set of poems exploring history, mythology, diverse locales including Hawai'i and Antarctica, and the inner landscape of the self. These short works are framed and infused with the sounds and images of water--ocean, rain, river, ice, and stream--flowing through them or just beneath their surface. They take us through the pain of loss, the mystery of joy, and ultimately the hope of a higher love and power that governs our lives. Water language is the language of our own bodies and souls, which speaks within us before the words take shape in our mouths. The author, professor of physics by vocation, and a sailor and surfer by passion, forges together a strange alloy of language and imagery that draws us in, surprises, convicts, and rewards us with the sense that our lives are not forgotten by the God who is there.
