Philip Van Auken has developed a management "resource handbook" in response to this problem. Sensitive to the needs of the often over-burdened Christian professional, his workbook aims at assisting adminstrators in developing effective and efficient personal management styles - ones that are in harmony with their value systems. Written in a modular format, the book is designed to be "user friendly." Easy-to-digest and action-oriented in focus, each chapter explores a key component of successful management. Through a three-step format of Discussion Modules, Situation Reviews, and Action Plans, each topic is thoroughly and systematically addressed. Included are worksheets not only for managers, but for other ministry team members as well. This book is the tool you need as a leader or manager to transform your ministry from the mundane to the monumental.

Practicing leadership requires being prepared to be flexible. Not every situation requires the same kind of leadership, so any rigid theory of leadership for pastors is bound to fail. In Meeting the Moment: Leadership & Well-Being in Ministry, church management expert G. Douglass Lewis advocates an approach to leadership that accounts for a variety of situations in parish ministry. Using case studies, he also describes how pastors ensure their well-being, e.g., avoiding burnout, in order to be effective leaders.

Have you ever had that sinking feeling that you were missing out on something very valuable in your ministry but just couldnt put your finger on it? Well, these resources for adventures in service to God for the church are valuable assets to those seeking a dynamic experience in Gods Kingdom work. To invest yourself in Larry Spencers Ministry of Helps Manual and Workbook can enhance your ministry and greatly format your service with usable hands on tools that complete your tool chest. Bring these practical things home and put them to work. Great results have already been seen from individuals who respect Gods Word and value what it can bring to the Board room as well as to the church service. You will not be sorry you invested in this training for you and your ministry team. Rev. Lloyd Tremain, Paradise Community Church of the Nazarene A thorough, practical and much needed Biblically sound treatment. Wish it had been available 20 years ago when I could have use it to a great positive effect Dan Wilderman, Retired Assemblies of God Pastor the order and practical instruction presented will benefit all organizational levels of any Christian Church today. John Steffensen, Radio Host, Christ Today KKXX Radio Chico CA Hopefully this manual will lay the groundwork for pastors and churches to spread the burden and get others involved in the work of the ministry. I once had a pastor that was often unprepared for a service because he was busy helping a parishioner with some needed chore, or church maintenance, or the myriad other duties needed to keep a church going. The result was that the church stayed the same size. Some leave; others enter. But no growth was apparent despite the considerable preaching talents of the pastor. God is apparently making sure he has only the amount of people that he can handle. We learn that the ancient church had some of the same challenges we face today. Acts 6:14 says, Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. (Read this as doing manual labor.) Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; (the manual labor) but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. It was even bringing strife to the local body. What did they do? And what was the result? The first thing the apostles did was pick out people they knew to be wise and that had had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and appointed them to do practical ministerial duties (the manual labor). This freed up the apostles so they could minister the Word of God. Wow, Gods way is so simple, and our grandiose plans just waste time and get nothing done. Pastors need to learn from the apostles and appoint over this business so the pastors has more time to do the spiritual work that promotes Gods church. This manual gives a road map for accomplishing the goal of choosing and training people and tips for managing them.

Team Leadership In Christian Ministry written by Kenneth O. Gangel and has been published by Moody Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-01-05 with Religion categories.

'Team leadership is the exercise of one's spiritual gifts under the call of God to serve a certain group of people in achieving the goals God has given them toward the end of glorifying Christ.'How is your church or organization governed? Does it have an authoritarian, top-down administration? Is the ministry vision developed by a few top officials, with little input from staff or volunteers? Today the definition of an effective leader has changed. No longer does the model leader manage like the Lone Ranger - either do it his way or no way. Today the model leader shares responsibility with fellow team leaders and seeks to serve them. In this complete revision of his earlier work, Building Leaders for Church Education, Dr. Gangel carefully lays a biblical foundation for the team leadership model. This leadership is not dogmatic control or personality worship. It has no room for political power plays. Instead, it is Paul gently nurturing young Christians in his epistles. It is Barnabas willingly thrusting others into situations where they develop their own gifts. It is Christ, choosing not one, but twelve men to carry on His ministry. It is servant leadership. With examples, illustrations, and suggestions for further reading at the end of each chapter, Dr. Gangel prods and encourages the reader to move beyond the safety net of autocratic leadership into the rewarding, effective practice of leading with and through others.

As Carl George and Bob Logan well know, this mentality is changing. Studies of growing churches show that the leadership role of the pastor is a key to church vitality. The ideal role of the church-growth pastor is now being described as an "equipper," rather than an "enabler." This implies pastoral initiative in setting goals, obtaining goal ownership from the people, and mobilizing the laity for effective ministry aimed at accomplishing the goals.
