ForewordC a r r i b be a n"When i stepped into this project as a member of the Poetry Posse/Inner Child Press International and Cultural Ambassador i asked myself what's the most prevalent vibe you feel when you hear " The Caribbean " and immediately the first word that came to mind is diversity, immediately followed by " flavor " plenty of both. The area that constitutes the Caribbean is vast, over one million sq. miles comprised of over 700 Islands including Island nations. In the east bordering the Caribbean Sea, North Atlantic Ocean, South East of the Gulf of Mexico and North American mainland. East of Central America, North of South America. Personification of diversity manifest in ethnicity, language, religions, politics etc. Impacted by colonization by the likes of England, France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands etc.The slave trade played a major part on the region with many west Africans captured by slave traders being sent to Caribbean Islands bringing their culture, art, music, religions, etc. that had and to this day have a profound effect on the entire region. Actually the Colonial invaders that seized large swaths of territory also left their mark on the inhabitants till this day as well even though most of the Caribbean Nations have achieved independence.Diversity also goes beyond human beings, their respective cultures, religions, etc. It spills over into Bio-diversity: The Caribbean islands have one of the most diverse eco systems in the world. The animals, fungi and plants, and have been classified as one of Conservation International's biodiversity hotspots because of their exceptionally diverse terrestrial and marine ecosystems, ranging from montane cloud forests, to tropical rainforest, to cactus scrublands. The region also contains about 8% (by surface area) of the world's coral reefs along with extensive seagrass meadows, both of which are frequently found in the shallow marine waters bordering the island and continental coasts of the region.Economies vary, GDP per capita (PPP) (US$) ranges as high as $32,000 (Bahamas) to $1,300 (Haiti)Economic activity include resources for trade such as fruits, beans, wood, etc. Caribbean Islands are blessed with very fertile land for farming. Of course Tourism is the main industry that floats the economy in many of the Caribbean Island countries given beautiful tropical weather, beach's, resort facilities/hotels ideal for vacationing all year around. The region also features beautiful coral reefs and rain forests essential to the environment.Languages include, English, Spanish, French (Creole), Dutch, etc. Culture is influenced by European, African and indigenous traditions. Two major indigenous groups are Taino in the Greater Antilles and the Caribs in the Lesser Antilles." [...]

ForewordThe definition of Northeast Asia is not static but often changes according to the context in which it is discussed. In common usage, the term Northeast Asia typically refers to a region including China. In this sense, the core countries constituting Northeast Asia are China, Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia, North Korea and South Korea.Broader definitions, such as that used by the World Bank refer to the "three major Northeast Asian economies, i.e. China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan", as well as Mongolia, North Korea, the Russian Far East and Siberia. The Council on Foreign Relations includes Mongolia and the Russian Far East. The World Bank also acknowledges the roles of sub-national or de facto states, such as Hong Kong and Macau. The Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia defines the region as "China, Japan, the Koreas, Mongolia, and eastern regions of the Russian Federation".Despite not being culturally or ethnically East Asian, Russia is sometimes included in discussion as its political interests and policies clashes with those, in particular, of China, Japan, and the Koreas due to its control over the Russian Far East. The Yellow Sea, the Sea of Okhotsk, and the East China Sea are also included in discussions of the region.North East Asia is experiencing a large and growing ageing population. The pace of ageing is rapid due to declined fertility and increased longevity, and in some cases shrinking populations. The ageing population with the increasing old-age dependency ratio becomes one of the major challenges to the society, from socio-economic to policy systems. In recent years, North East Asia region is trying to identify technological solutions to assist older adults in independent living and social participation. The assistive technologies also contribute by reducing the burden on their families and caregivers. The past is haunting Northeast Asia. The China-Japan-Korea triad has been on a repeated collision course over how each perceives the shared past. Bound by dense memory webs, cultural affinity and geographical proximity, each of the three nations has made conflicting historical claims against the other, giving rise to conflict throughout the region and beyond.China, Japan, and Korea constitute the core of the Northeast Asian "community." "Community" which encompasses "religion, work, family, and culture; it refers to social bonds characterized by emotional cohesion, depth, continuity, and fullness." No community, however, can be totally unified; indeed, national communities can contain antagonistic elements, and the members of a community are not necessarily content with one another. The community of China, Japan, and Korea, like many a marriage, is charged with intense but coexisting feelings of interdependence and conflict, of love and hate. From a historical perspective, Greater Chinese culture remains the most important influence in this region. Although this statement will lead to opposition from nationalists in other countries. But the history of the origin and development can't be denied. As far as the author's cognition is concerned, since the Tang Dynasty, even earlier, Chinese culture has been deeply implanted in the hearts of all people in this region, whether in political, religious beliefs or lifestyle.Dr. Tzemin Ition Tsai

ForewordOnly a single birdis singingThe air is cloning it.We hear through mirrors. Federico Garcia Lorca This month's theme is Africa and Horn Africa. Africa and Horn Africa are the mirrors of singing birds, flora and fauna, cultural prominence, collective life, social translators of ethnic groups those who grow with the nature. The inhabitants are the crisis manager of all adversities and the echo of their brave History . Africa is a continent but Horn Africa is a peninsula in Northeast Africa. It extends hundreds of kilometres into the Arabian sea and lies along the Southern side of the Gulf of Eden .The area is the easternmost projection of the African Continent. The countries and territories included are Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia. The people of the Horn Africa are subdivided into six people clusters; Beja, Cushitic, Ethio-Semitic, Omotic, Oromo and Somalia. Somalia is a country located in the Horn of Africa bordered by Ethiopia to the West, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the North, the Somali Sea, Guardafui Channel to the east and Kenya to the South East. The Horn Africa enjoys an excellent strategic location south west of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Its location on one side of some of the world's major trade lanes and land route gives it vital importance because of its proximity to the oil reach Arabian Peninsula. Part of the Horn Africa is also known as the Somali Peninsula. Mostly mountainous, the region arose through faults resulting from the rift valley. Agriculture is the single most important activity in Africa. We cannot overlook the tradition, the nativism, the culture and the contribution of Africa and horn Africa for the generations. Nativism is a celebration of the pluralism that is the very core tune of Africa and Horn Africa. Somalia is known to the Egyptians as the Land of Punt. Punt was famous for frankincense and myrrh. Around 100 Somali Diaspora communities exist across the West, which actively are engaged in thousands of Civil associations. Lake Assal is a saline lake below sea level making it the lowest point on the land of the Horn of Africa. Some farming knowledge passed down from generation to generation has become obsolete. Drought crippled the region. People struggle to recover from the natural calamity. Inner Child Press International(R) with its mission of building bridges of cultural understanding takes the responsibility for global peace and harmony through poetry with International festivals and Anthologies. We respect the land, nature, folk tales, culture, music, literature, perceptions, ideas, thoughts, language and all ethnic groups of the world.Poetry is the living nature and nature is the living poetry. We respect the humanity ...We respect the survival skills. We respect the indigenous knowledge.Let us join our hands for peace ....Swapna Behera Cultural Ambassador of India and south East Asia for Inner Child Press International

ForewordSouthwest Asia, the westernmost region of Asia possesses a "crossroad of different cultures." The culture of Southwest Asia are most generally known as the cultures of the Middle East. The Arab World and Islamic World are the realm's two biggest cultural links.Endowed with a rich history, several of the civilizations described by Arnold Toynbee in his survey of world history had their cradle in this exotic region. Many of the recorded events took place in towns like Jericho going back to 6800 B. C.The great empires, Babylonian and the Assyrians, Persian Empires, and Arab Empire centered in Baghdad and Damascus, as well as that of the Turkish Ottomans. The region consists of five largest ethnic groups: Arabs, Azebaijans, Kurds, Persians, and the Turks. Many poems have been written as odes to the epic history enveloping the exotic region. The deserts alone make wonderful subjects depicting the desert nomads and their elusive, wandering way of life. Beautiful verses from the heart can be created after one discovers the melodramatic stories hidden in each place as accounts of time long gone resurface. The Poetry Posse Family will take you to a beautiful cascade of memories and rhythmic compositions as we bring you with us to a delightful and enriching journey of the Arab World.I hope you enjoy our diverse poetry offerings for this month of August.Elizabeth Esguerra CastilloInternational Author and PoetPhilippines

Singing Soviet Stagnation Vocal Cycles From The Ussr 1964 1985 written by Richard Louis Gillies and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-12-10 with Music categories.

Singing Soviet Stagnation: Vocal Cycles from the USSR, 1964–1985 explores the ways in which the aftershock of an apparent crisis in Soviet identity after the death of Stalin in 1953 can be detected in selected musical- literary works of what has become known as the ‘Stagnation’ era (1964–1985). Richard Louis Gillies traces the cultural impact of this shift through the intersection between music, poetry, and identity, presenting close readings of three substantial musical-literary works by three of the period’s most prominent composers of songs and vocal cycles: • Seven Poems of Aleksandr Blok, Op. 127 (1966– 1967) by Dmitri Shostakovich (1906–1975) • Russia Cast Adrift (1977) by Georgy Sviridov (1915–1998) • Stupeni (1981–1982; 1997) by Valentin Silvestrov (b. 1937). The study elaborates an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of musicalliterary artworks that does not rely on existing models of musical analysis or on established modes of literary criticism, thereby avoiding privileging one discipline over the other. It will be of particular signifi cance for scholars, students, and performers with an interest in Russian and Soviet music, the intersection between music and poetry, and the history of Russian and East European culture, politics, and identity during the twentieth century.

When we think of Catholicism, we think of Europe and the United States as the seats of its power. But while much of Catholicism remains headquartered in the West, the Church’s center of gravity has shifted to Africa, Latin America, and developing Asia. Focused on the transnational Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Unequal Partners explores the ways gender, race, economic inequality, and colonial history play out in religious organizations, revealing how their members are constantly negotiating and reworking the frameworks within which they operate. Taking us from Belgium and the United States to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, sociologist Casey Clevenger offers rare insight into how the sisters of this order work across national boundaries, shedding light on the complex relationships among individuals, social groups, and formal organizations. Throughout, Clevenger skillfully weaves the sisters’ own voices into her narrative, helping us understand how the order has remained whole over time. A thoughtful analysis of the ties that bind—and divide—the sisters, Unequal Partners is a rich look at transnationalism’s ongoing impact on Catholicism.
