Seine Beschreibungen der amerikanischen Nation und deren Traum in seinen Werken Angst und Schrecken in Las Vegas und Angst und Schrecken: Im Wahlkampf ′72 sind kaum positiv. Im Gegenteil. Er verweist sogar auf den Tod des Amerikanischen Traumes und den Verfall Amerikas.
