The emergence of Pentecostalism in Ghana has attracted a massive following and generated institutions that have significantly impacted Christian discourse and national life. The movement has produced prominent leaders who have developed exemplary Christian education programs and generated volumes of Christian literature unprecedented in Ghanaian Christianity. Nevertheless, public opinion often upbraids church leaders for unethical conduct. Despite the concern for high moral standards set by Pentecostal church polity and ministerial ethical codes, reports of Pentecostal ministerial misconduct appear regularly in the media. Although congregation members and perceptive public observers appreciate the constructive moral impact of Pentecostal ministers, instances of promiscuity, power abuse, financial misappropriation, and superstition reveal a gap between ethical ideals and practice. As this research reveals, factors behind unethical ministerial conduct include inadequate training, poor accountability, and a general low level of ethical reflection. Good Pastors, Bad Pastors suggests that a multidimensional approach of responsible reportage, emphatic moral education, appropriate but sympathetic response to moral failure, and peer-review accountability could help uphold a higher standard of ministerial ethics.

It tells of Rosetta's life and death struggle for the survival of herself and her children. It describes the depth of poverty to which she sank in that struggle. Finally, when all hope for survival was gone she was literally brought to her knees. Only then did she humble herself before her Creator and Lord and ask for His help. God opened her eyes to an awareness that there was help all around her. It recounts her near death experience at the hands of a person from her past. It tells of happiness that came into her life because of another person from her past. He referred to her as a "lady of steel".

In this book, Dr. Matthew Todd looks into the anecdotal reporting of high numbers of Canadian-born Chinese leaving Western Canadian Chinese churches--what is termed the silent exodus. Some of the fastest-growing Canadian churches are Chinese, yet reportedly the highest dropout rates are among Chinese and Asian church adult ministries. This book recommends solutions towards the retention of Canadian-born Chinese adults in Chinese bicultural churches through empowerment. To address retention, the key factors that contribute to a silent exodus are established through qualitative research with participants of diverse church affiliations. Todd examines various models and proposed solutions the Chinese church has used to retain its English-speaking congregants, and gives attention to a theological basis for being inclusive in mission initiatives and for empowerment through passing the leadership baton. Todd makes some recommendations on the new wave of an emerging congregational model that requires negotiation with Chinese church leadership to give power away to English ministry leaders and congregations. He anticipates that this will permit transformational leadership practices that contribute to shalom, community transformation, and lasting congregations.

A Roman centurion asks Jesus to heal his dying servant. Jesus agrees to help and begins making his way to the centurion’s home, but the centurion tells him not to bother making the trip. He says that it would be enough for Jesus just to say the word for the servant to be healed. The Bible then says that Jesus “marveled” at the centurion’s faith. How could Jesus, whom Christians believe to be God incarnate, who knows all things, be amazed by anything a human does? There must be something special about faith to cause Jesus to be amazed. Christians are called to possess the same kind of faith as the centurion.
