Although very little can be done to alter the course of dementia, much can be done to maximize the quality of life of people with the condition. Research as well as practical experience suggest that behavior management, especially through programs that provide meaningful and constructive activity, is currently the most effective treatment. In Keeping Busy, James Dowling describes a variety of activities designed to bring meaning and enjoyment to the lives of persons with dementia. The activities are organized by general categories such as music, exercise, horticulture, pets, humor, and social events. The largest section deals with communication and includes word games that help people strengthen their remaining verbal skills. The description of each activity includes step-by-step instructions, as well as tips on how to adapt it for small or large groups, for individuals at home or in an organization, or people who are bedridden.

How many times have you been asked how you were doing, and you responded "better"? In all honesty you might have been doing a little better than the last time but not much. Then this book is for you. But this book is also for people who are just tired of not living their best lives. People who wish they had someone they can go to that can help direct them on the path to living that best life. How many people wish they had an older person they can turn to when they feel doubt to ask for advice? Someone who has accumulated years of wisdom to say "You know what I've been there, and this is what these things will lead to. Let me show you how I got past that". How many people are just in need of some source of guidance? I have felt like this my whole life. I was born blessed with a unique type of mind that as I experience life my mind records everything I learn as from a 3rd person which makes it easy for me to document and learn from things as I go. I've also done my fair share of traveling and in my own search for inner peace have picked the brain of so many people from different walks of life who had so much wisdom to give. Of all these things I have learned I picked out the most common and universal things that I feel prevent people from living their best lives and wrote this book. So that anyone reading this book can be well on their way to being better at being better. Better at beating anxiety and self-doubt, be more confident in themselves. Even help in building financial stability and find inner peace. I feel it necessary to let everyone know that I credit all of my success in life- from overcoming chronic crippling anxiety and panic disorder to surviving the prison system for years, to dealing with deaths and raising kids and heartbreak and poverty and severe PTSD and an injury that took away my ability to walk for a while to growing up with an abusive parent and sibling to battling my owner inner demons and having a heart attack at 26- to my faith in God. Not religion. My relationship with God. If you have always felt like God hasn't been there for you, read this book. If you feel like you never really felt God, read this book. If you never really thought much about God playing an active role in your life read this book. If you just need a nudge in the right direction and are lost a little bit or a lot, read this book. If you just want to be better at being better, read this book!

Have you drift off course in relationship with God? Have you been enticed by Satans schemes and fallen back into a lifestyle of sin? Do you have a longing in your heart to have close intimate fellowship with God once again? Maybe you are not the one who has turned away from God, but perhaps you know someone who was once in a loving relationship with God, devoted to living life for him, but now have turned their back on God. If you have found yourself in either of these scenarios, then The Turning Point Rebuilding Your Relationship With God is the book for you. The Turning Point- Rebuilding Your Relationship with God addresses some of the enticing schemes that Satan uses to cause believers to become disloyal to God and commit spiritual adultery. It expounds on the dangers of drifting off course and the devastating effects that it can have on ones life. Using biblical examples, it demonstrates the point that even the most devoted Christian can stray away if he or she falls prey to the temptations orchestrated by Satan. It also provides a strategic plan on how a Christian can remain anchored and techniques that they can use to prevent them from falling back into a lifestyle of sin. The Turning Point gives those who may have backslidden, a step by step approach to reaching a turning point and the guidance needed in rebuilding their relationship with God. Finally, this book stresses the role and responsibility that each Christian plays in helping an erring brother or sister return to God.

"Deftly combining crisis science, evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral psychology, Crisis Integration With Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: Theory and Practice provides mental health clinicians with an easy to learn, simple to remember, and immediately actionable approach to helping patients deal with crises and evolve through them. This volume examines findings from the scientific study of crisis, offering readers a translational and functional definition of crisis and tying the acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) model to the literature. Engaging clinical dialogues, grounded in real-world practice, demonstrate the three core processes of ACT at work in clinical practice: 1 Mindfulness and its effectiveness in both acute and chronic crises; 2 Self-compassion and how kindness to oneself during intense torment can be crucial to acceptance; and 3 Engagement with life and the importance of controlling one's own behavior amid crisis-provoking events. Although crises come in a great variety of forms, this illuminating guide posits that the core processes underpinning the generation and maintenance of a crisis response are basically the same and introduces a model that transforms moments of crisis into opportunities for learning and growth for both patients and clinicians"--
