JANUARY 1944. Out in the wastes of the Indian Ocean, British ships are sinking. The cause: A German armed raider, disguised to deceive unwary merchantmen. In Williamstown, Australia, HMS Andromeda awaits transfer to the Australian navy. After years together in bloody combat with the Nazis, the cruiser's crew will disperse to fight in other ships, in other seas. But a call to Andromeda's youthful captain, Richard Blake VC, changes everything. His mission: to seek out and destroy the raider. And in this conflict, one ship must die. ______________________________ A classic tale of naval warfare from Douglas Reeman, the all-time bestselling master of naval fiction, who served with the Royal Navy on convoy duty in the Atlantic, the Arctic and the North Sea. Merriam Press World War 2 Memoir. After boot camp at the Marine Corps Air Station, El Centro, Calif., Nutter was assigned to the intelligence section of HQ Squadron, 2nd Marine Air Wing, MAG 43, tasked to join the invasion force of Okinawa. He was issued a typewriter and assigned various report writing duties. Before long his experience, his age and his lighthearted, infectious personality, won him increased freedom and access to the stories unfolding around him. His account of the battles fought to secure Okinawa is often grim, but always with an eye for the determination and spirit that animated these citizen warriors, lifting them to the acts of sacrifice and heroism that fill these pages-the raw stuff of America's victory over Japan. Nutter Completed in 1945, Nutter was unable to find a publisher and died in 1950, and for some 70 years the manuscript sat, a time capsule preserving the stories of the men he got to know. Nothing has been changed.

The Captain is a descendant of an advanced species that has left this galaxy. Before leaving, his father gave him advanced technology, extreme abilities, and a sentient ship for his home. The Captain had not met a species with more advanced technology until his encounter with the Zolins. When the equally advanced Zolins become a threat to his system, the Captain can no longer avoid the war and joins with the Collection. The Collection is a military organization and has over a hundred member species. They are at war with the Zolins because the Zolins are now expanding their territory and invading occupied systems. The Collection sends the Captain to the Earth system to surveil Zolin ships that have taken an interest in the system. While there, he walks many human minds and becomes intrigued with a human female. He transports to her room and tells her he is offering her the opportunity to be his companion. If she agrees, she will have a life longer than other humans and a life of adventure. He says he is also recruiting her to work with the Collection in defeating the Zolins. He will teach her the Zolin language so she understands what she hears after he has trained her to walk Zolin minds.

Sovereign Of The Seas 1637 written by John McKay and has been published by Seaforth Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-28 with History categories.

Sovereign of the Seas was the most spectacular, extravagant and controversial warship of the early seventeenth century. The ultimate royal prestige project, whose armament was increased by the King’s decree to the unheard-of figure of 100 guns, the ship finally cost the equivalent of ten more conventional warships. A significant proportion of this total was spent on her gilded decoration, which gave the ship a unique combination of firepower and visual impact in battle that led her Dutch opponents to dub her the ‘Golden Devil’. The vessel was the poster-child of the notorious ‘Ship Money’ tax, raised without parliamentary approval and so unpopular it was a major factor leading to the Civil War in which Charles I lost his sovereignty and his head. In that sense, she was a ship that cost a kingdom. It is unsurprising that such a high-profile ship should be well-documented, but there are no contemporary plans and much of the visual evidence is contradictory. In this book, John McKay sets out to analyse the data and reconstruct the design and appearance of the ship in a degree of detail never previously attempted. The results are presented as a folio of superbly draughted plans, isometric drawings and coloured renderings, covering every aspect of the design from the hull form to the minutiae of sails and rigging. Each section is accompanied by an explanatory text, setting out the rationale for his conclusions, so the book will be of value to historians of the period as well as providing superb reference for any modeller tackling of one of the most popular of all sailing ship subjects.
