This little book contains three short alchemical manuscripts from the 1th and 17th centuries. All three have been rendered into modern English. First there is the Immortal Liquor; Alkahest, of Philalethes, showing the nature of and creation of the infamous precursor to the stone of the philosophers. Second to this is a tract on the Everburning Lights of Trithemius- a second-hand account of his phosphorescent capabilities. Finally, there is Pontanus' Philosophic Fire, containing the secret of the alchemical process with regards to the secretive and all-important fire used during the work itself.

A concise guide to the history, theory, and practice of alchemy (the “great work”)—the art of working with the energies of nature for spiritual development, healing, and transformation. Alchemy is a means of understanding and working in concert with the energies of nature for spiritual development, healing, and transformation. In this book, Brian Cotnoir offers a step-by-step introduction that explores alchemy’s mysteries while illustrating its use as a modern spiritual system of attainment. He provides an overview of the history of alchemy, from the first meldings of Egyptian technology to the Middle Ages—the golden age of alchemy—to contemporary techniques. He demystifies the relationship between alchemy and chemistry, and provides evidence that alchemy is much more than a medieval form of psychotherapy. The guide also includes practical laboratory experiments that safely and intelligently lead readers to an understanding of this ancient art and spiritual practice. Provides step-by-step instruction for beginning a practice in alchemy Explains the theory underlying the art and science of alchemy and how it works Demystifies the relationship between alchemy and chemistry, while going well beyond the “psychological interpretation” advanced by nonscientists Introduces the practice of alchemy to students of the Western magical arts This book was previously published as The Weiser Concise Guide to Alchemy. This new edition includes a foreword by Robert Allen Bartlett, author of Real Alchemy.

Three Books on Alchemy - Roger Bacon - 1. Tract on the Tincture and Oil of Antimony; 2. An Alchemical Mass; 3. The Mirror of Alchemy; - Take the mixture of oil and wine spirit put it into a retort, put on a helm, connect a receiver and place it all together into the Balneum Mariae. Then distill all the Spiritum vini from the oil, at a very gentle heat, until you are certain that no more Spiritus vini is to be found within this very precious oil. And this will be easy to check; for when you see several drops of Spiritu vini ascend over the helm and fall into the recipient, this is the sign that the Spiritus vini has become separated from the oil. Then remove the fire from the Balneo, though it was very small, so that it may cool all the sooner. Now remove the recipient containing the Spiritu vini, and keep it in a safe place, for it is full of Spiritus which it has extracted from the oil and retained. It also contains admirable virtues, as you will hear hereafter. But in the Balneo you will find the blessed bloodred Oleum Antimonii in the retort, which should be taken out very carefully. The helm must be very slowly removed, taking care to soften and wash off the Lute, so that no dirt falls down into the beautiful red oil and makes it turbid. This oil you must store with all possible precaution so that it receives no damage. For you now have a Heavenly Oil that shines on a dark night and emits light as from a glowing coal. And the reason for this is that its innermost power and soul has become thrown out unto the outermost, and the hidden soul is now revealed and shines through the pure body as a light through a lantern: Just as on Judgement Day our present invisible and internal souls will manifest through our clarified bodies, that in this life are impure and dark, but the soul will then be revealed and seen unto the outermost of the body, and will shine as the bright sun.

Catalogue of Works on Alchemy and Chemistry, Exhibited at the Grolier Club New-York, Jan, 16th to Jan 26th, 1891 is a three part series that discusses works on alchemy and chemistry produced, written, or displayed by the Grolier Club. Known as one of the finest gentleman's clubs in New York City, The Grolier club was a private club, relegated only to men, and with the emphasis on including (if not exclusively) bibliophiles. The members collected, discussed, and above all, read books voraciously. Their deep passion for the printed word is what inspired their famous exhibits, including a variety of works from authors across the country and on every subject imaginable. This catalog is a comprehensive listing of all books exhibited at the Grolier Club by author's last name. The second volume of this series begins in the A's and works through the alphabet until the Z's, listing 110 separate titles. For individuals interested in the Grolier collection and Grolier exhibits, this book is essential; for those looking for a vast array of titles on Alchemy and Chemistry, this book is very helpful; and for people interested in late nineteenth century books, this volume is very enlightening. The Catalogue of Works on Alchemy and Chemistry, Exhibited at the Grolier Club New-York, Jan, 16th to Jan 26th, 1891 is a wealth of interesting titles from the late nineteenth century on books dealing with alchemy and chemistry. For readers interested in alchemy and chemistry, this book can help them find new titles to explore on these topics and broaden their alchemic horizons exponentially!
