Let $\cal{R}$ be the set of all finite graphs $G$ with the Ramsey property that every coloring of the edges of $G$ by two colors yields a monochromatic triangle. In this paper the authors establish a sharp threshold for random graphs with this property. Let $G(n, p)$ be the random graph on $n$ vertices with edge probability $p$. The authors prove that there exists a function $\widehat c=\widehat c(n)=\Theta(1)$ such that for any $\varepsilon > 0$, as $n$ tends to infinity, $Pr\left[G(n, (1-\varepsilon)\widehat c/\sqrt{n}) \in \cal{R} \right] \rightarrow 0$ and $Pr \left[ G(n, (1]\varepsilon)\widehat c/\sqrt{n}) \in \cal{R}\ \right] \rightarrow 1.$. A crucial tool that is used in the proof and is of independent interest is a generalization of Szemeredi's Regularity Lemma to a certain hypergraph setti

In the 1950s, random graphs appeared for the first time in a result of the prolific hungarian mathematician Pál Erd\H{o}s. Since then, interest in random graph theory has only grown up until now. In its first stages, the basis of its theory were set, while they were mainly used in probability and combinatorics theory. However, with the new century and the boom of technologies like the World Wide Web, random graphs are even more important since they are extremely useful to handle problems in fields like network and communication theory. Because of this fact, nowadays random graphs are widely studied by the mathematical community around the world and new promising results have been recently achieved, showing an exciting future for this field. In this bachelor thesis, we focus our study on the threshold phenomena for graph properties within random graphs.

The articles in this volume present the state of the art in a variety of areas of discrete probability, including random walks on finite and infinite graphs, random trees, renewal sequences, Stein's method for normal approximation and Kohonen-type self-organizing maps. This volume also focuses on discrete probability and its connections with the theory of algorithms. Classical topics in discrete mathematics are represented as are expositions that condense and make readable some recent work on Markov chains, potential theory and the second moment method. This volume is suitable for mathematicians and students.

Peter Fishburn has had a splendidly productive career that led to path-breaking c- tributions in a remarkable variety of areas of research. His contributions have been published in a vast literature, ranging through journals of social choice and welfare, decision theory, operations research, economic theory, political science, mathema- cal psychology, and discrete mathematics. This work was done both on an individual basis and with a very long list of coauthors. The contributions that Fishburn made can roughly be divided into three major topical areas, and contributions to each of these areas are identi?ed by sections of this monograph. Section 1 deals with topics that are included in the general areas of utility, preference, individual choice, subjective probability, and measurement t- ory. Section 2 covers social choice theory, voting models, and social welfare. S- tion 3 deals with more purely mathematical topics that are related to combinatorics, graph theory, and ordered sets. The common theme of Fishburn’s contributions to all of these areas is his ability to bring rigorous mathematical analysis to bear on a wide range of dif?cult problems.

A Guide To Graph Colouring written by R.M.R. Lewis and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-26 with Computers categories.

This book treats graph colouring as an algorithmic problem, with a strong emphasis on practical applications. The author describes and analyses some of the best-known algorithms for colouring arbitrary graphs, focusing on whether these heuristics can provide optimal solutions in some cases; how they perform on graphs where the chromatic number is unknown; and whether they can produce better solutions than other algorithms for certain types of graphs, and why. The introductory chapters explain graph colouring, and bounds and constructive algorithms. The author then shows how advanced, modern techniques can be applied to classic real-world operational research problems such as seating plans, sports scheduling, and university timetabling. He includes many examples, suggestions for further reading, and historical notes, and the book is supplemented by a website with an online suite of downloadable code. The book will be of value to researchers, graduate students, and practitioners in the areas of operations research, theoretical computer science, optimization, and computational intelligence. The reader should have elementary knowledge of sets, matrices, and enumerative combinatorics.

A collection of surveys and research papers on mathematical software and algorithms. The common thread is that the field of mathematical applications lies on the border between algebra and geometry. Topics include polyhedral geometry, elimination theory, algebraic surfaces, Gröbner bases, triangulations of point sets and the mutual relationship. This diversity is accompanied by the abundance of available software systems which often handle only special mathematical aspects. This is why the volume also focuses on solutions to the integration of mathematical software systems. This includes low-level and XML based high-level communication channels as well as general frameworks for modular systems.

Signal Processing For Communications written by Paolo Prandoni and has been published by Collection Savoir suisse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-06-17 with Signal processing categories.

With a novel, less classical approach to the subject, the authors have written a book with the conviction that signal processing should be taught to be fun. The treatment is therefore less focused on the mathematics and more on the conceptual aspects, the idea being to allow the readers to think about the subject at a higher conceptual level, thus building the foundations for more advanced topics. The book remains an engineering text, with the goal of helping students solve real-world problems. In this vein, the last chapter pulls together the individual topics as discussed throughout the book into an in-depth look at the development of an end-to-end communication system, namely, a modem for communicating digital information over an analog channel.
