The orcs of Grimwood summon an ancient evil. . . A mountaineering expedition to retrieve a griffin's egg goes horribly wrong, at least for most of the climbers. . . A soldier begins to believe his commander is not what he seems. . . A dungeon door poses a problem for an experienced party of adventurers. . . A unique trap appears to be inescapable, but for one desperate plan. . . Here are five tales set in the good old days of fantasy gaming, when friends sat around the kitchen table late into the night rolling dice and sharing adventures. Relive the spirit of the past (or even the present!) with stories of epic combat and base trickery, stories that any adventurer would be proud to tell over a mug of ale at the local tavern. Includes the short story The Trap, co-written by special guest author Tony Rudzki.

Focused on Aḥmad Ibn ‘Ajība – an eighteenth-century Moroccan Sufi scholar renowned for his contribution to Sufi Qur’ānic exegesis – this book engages critically with his theory of divine love to elucidate his impact on the wider field of Qur’ānic scholarship. The principal source of analysis is Ibn ‘Ajība’s Oceanic Exegesis of the Qur’ān which connected theoretical works on the concept of divine love to their practical application, a breakthrough in Sufi literature. Close analysis of this text is supplemented by a comparative approach focusing on several other eminent Sufi commentaries, including those of Abū al-Qāsim al-Qushayrī and Rūzbihān Baqlī Shīrāzī. This comparative approach situates Ibn ‘Ajība’s thought in theological and historical perspective, engaging with his mystical approach which integrates his theory of divine love with other Sufi doctrines in an accessible manner. This approach, it is argued, left an indelible impact on future generations of Qur’ānic exegetes within North Africa and across the Islamic world. The book will prove an important resource for academic researchers who wish to explore the vast intellectual heritage that Ibn ‘Ajība left, as well as to those interested in Sufi literature and Islamic theology in general.

First-person accounts by five PTSD survivors bring hope to the millions suffering from but not yet diagnosed with this affliction--and their loved ones. Each year millions of people are afflicted by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Most struggle to simply make it through the day as sights, sounds, and smells bring their life's most harrowing experience front and center, to be relived again and again. And many are unaware of the root problem of these symptoms or are unwilling to admit one exists.Through moving firsthand accounts 5 Survivors sheds an intimate light on the impact of PTSD on three veterans of war, a survivor of Hurricane Katrina, and a victim of childhood sexual abuse. With courage and honesty, they tell their stories of trauma, revealing the struggles they faced later in life, and how they eventually worked toward positive change and healing. With the guidance of PTSD expert and researcher Tracy Stecker, Ph.D. who outlines the symptoms and progress of each survivor, those living untreated with PTSD may see themselves in these stories, realize they are not alone, and take action to get help. Friends and family of those who have been greatly impacted by trauma will gain a more intimate understanding of a loved one's struggle and pain.About the author Tracy Stecker, Ph.D., is a psychologist at the Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center. She developed a curriculum titled Using a Brief Intervention to Motivate Clients to Get Help in collaboration with Hazelden. Her focus is on treating veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan returning with PTSD and/or substance abuse issues. Several of these projects have been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute for Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse.

Orixa of the Stars tells the story of a young princess who is forced to flee from the stars due to a huge vapour storm caused by the Wasenas. These are very small creatures with wings, and they remain so if one does not look at them, but as soon as one gives them any attention they grow and develop hairy bodies with short legs and leech off one’s shoulders and surfaces of asteroids. Hence, Orixa, holding tight to her magical mirror along with her best friend princess Priska, find themselves on the remote island of Shofall on earth. Here, Orixa and Priska are received by Dharkjen, the oldest witch on the island, who has only one hand carrying a stick and who also has a necklace of eyes around her head to see everyone and everything from everywhere! Thence, Orixa travels through five more islands on her quest to build a ship and return to the stars. However, on each island she encounters either the witch Dharkjen or the Wasenas, and sometimes both who subject her to many adversities. Nevertheless, Orixa achieves higher levels of awareness on each of the islands. These are further reflected in songs throughout the story. Will Orixa reach her destination, or will she keep running away from Dharkjen?
