La postmodernidad debe entenderse como parte de un histórico-cultural en el que se entrecruzan caminos diferentes. Si, como seres humanos, somos constantes recolectores y consumidores de experiencias, como estudiosos somos también inagotables improvisadores de esquemas que nos permiten indagar el mundo del cual somos parte, buscando entenderlo mejor. Inevitablemente respondemos al llamado de una formación humanística, y es esto lo que he intentado explorar al incursionar en la novela colombiana contemporánea dentro de un contexto postmoderno. Es innegable que seguimos moviéndonos por un terreno epistemológicamente diferente, y que ante nosotros han aparecido nuevos modos de representación; pero esto no significa que, junto al cuestionado valor del lenguaje, la consiguiente devaluación de los grandes discursos, o el desaparecido poder del autor -entre otras cosas-, no podamos rescatar el valor de la experiencia humana transformada en ejercicios de escritura. Más que un comentario marginal a las abundantes propuestas teóricas que continúan agitando nuestro campo de estudio, mi interés se sigue concentrando en el determinante papel de ciertas reconocibles en cada una de las novelas escogidas como señales reveladoras de su identidad.
