Over the past few years, with services such as Facebook, Twitter and push notifications on smartphones, users are now getting used to being up to date with everything that happens all the time. With SignalR, the applications stay connected and will generate notifications when something happens either from the system or by other users thus giving new opportunities to enter into this new, exciting world of real-time application development. This is a step-by-step guide that follows a practical approach helping you as a developer getting to get started with SignalR by learning its fundamentals. It will help you through building real-time applications using the new methods and functions in the SignalR framework. Starting from getting persistent connections with the server, you will learn the basics of connecting a client to the server and how the messaging works. This will be followed by setting up a hub on the server and consuming it from a JavaScript client. Next you will be taught how you can group connections together to send messages. We will then go on to know how you can have state in the client to handle specific operations like connecting or disconnecting. Then, moving on you will learn how to secure your SignalR connections using OWIN and scaling SignalR across multiple servers. Next you will learn building a client for WPF and building a client using Xamarin that targets Windows Phone, iPhone and Android. Lastly, you will learn how to monitor the traffic in SignalR using Fiddler, Charles and hosting SignalR using OWIN. Style and approach This is an example- oriented and comprehensive guide to learning the fundamentals of SignalR to build real-time applications. It will help you build real-time applications on the .Net platform in a step-by-step manner along with giving teaching techniques to deal with possible performance bottlenecks and other key topics.

Time Parallel Methods For Accelerating The Solution Of Structural Dynamics Problems written by Julien Remi Cortial and has been published by Stanford University this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with categories.

The classical approach for solving evolution Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) using a parallel computer consists in first partitioning the spatial domain and assigning each subdomain to a processor to achieve space-parallelism, then advancing the solution sequentially. However, enabling parallelism along the time dimension, despite its intrinsic difficulty, can be of paramount importance to fast computations when space-parallelism is unfeasible, cannot fully exploit a massively parallel machine or when near-real-time prediction is desired. The aforementioned objective can be achieved by applying classical domain decomposition principles to the time axis. The latter is first partitioned into time-slices to be processed independently. Starting with approximate seed information that provides a set of initial conditions, the response is then advanced in parallel in each time-slice using a standard time-stepping integrator. This decomposed solution exhibits discontinuities or jumps at the time-slice boundaries if the initial guess is not accurate. Applying a Newton-like approach to the time-dependent system, a correction function is then computed to improve the accuracy of the seed values and the process is repeated until convergence is reached. Methods based on the above concept have been successfully applied to various problems but none was found to be competitive for even for the simplest of second-order hyperbolic PDEs, a class of equations that covers the field of structural dynamics among others. To overcome this difficulty, a key idea is to improve the sequential propagator used for correcting the seed values, observing that the original evolution problem and the derived corrective one are closely related. The present work first demonstrates how this insight can be brought to fruition in the context of linear oscillators, with numerical examples featuring structural models ranging from academic to more challenging large-scale ones. An extension of this method to nonlinear equations is then developed and its concrete application to geometrically nonlinear transient dynamics is presented. Finally, it is shown how the time-reversibility property that characterizes some of the above problems can be exploited to develop a new framework that provides an increased speed-up factor.

The increasing use of computers for real-time control on board spacecrafts has brought with it a greater emphasis on the development methodology used for such systems. By their nature, spacecraft control computers have to operate unattended for long periods and because of the programmatics of space, systems are subject to a long development cycle. As a result, there are two distinct concerns, the first being that the development approach guarantees functional and timing correctness, the second being that problems, particularly those associated with timing, are considered as early as possible in the spacecraft development life cycle. The European Space Agency has, for a number of years, encouraged the development of software using HOOD. It was thus a natural next step to investigate the incorporation of time within the existing HOOD framework. This has proven to be very beneficial and this book describes the approach developed by the authors for handling Hard Real-Time applications. It describes both the background scheduling theory, provides practical examples of its application to real life problems, and demonstrates how it is used in the various phases of the development of Hard Real-Time systems.
