BIG activities engage little learners with this complete curriculum for science, math, literacy and language. BIG is powerful. Children want to be BIG. They want to do BIG. They love enormous numbers like a hundred million billion and long words like "tyrannosaurus rex." They love to spread their arms wide and run as fast as they can. Thinking BIG, Learning BIG is filled with BIG activities to engage the imaginations of young children. Children learn best by seeing, feeling, and doing. Making things on a grand scale enhances their understanding. When children build a giant spider with eight legs and eight eyes, and a giant fly with six legs and two eyes and two wings, children can experience the difference between spiders and flies, that they are not just "bugs." BIG creations are more fun, more memorable, and therefore, more educational. The chapters are organized by topic, with activities that build science, math, literacy and language skills, which form a solid foundation for future learning. The information and activities align with the standards set by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the International Reading Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English. The BIG Connections section presents ways to integrate the topic throughout the curriculum--in sensory experiences, art, music, dramatic play, and gross motor skills.

"The paucity of women-led start-ups to reach the same stratospheric levels of funding, growth, and annual revenue achieved by many of the new businesses founded by men is staggering. The lack of female representation among the top-earning founders is all the more surprising when compared to the number of women who do start businesses. So many women would love to build something great but don't know the rules of the game. They want real, practical, usable tools to help them make big things happen. This book aims to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice, empowering women to secure funding and thrive in big business and finance. Sarah Dusek delves into the art and science of creating a winning pitch deck, from crafting a compelling story to using data and design to make a lasting impact. She offers real-life examples from other female entrepreneurs and stories from her own journey, both as an entrepreneur and now as an investor in other women's businesses. Thinking Bigger is for women entrepreneurs around the world who want to think bigger and understand what it will take to get funded. Increasing the number of women-led businesses is not only beneficial for individual women entrepreneurs but is also critical for building a more equal, diverse world. The world is in desperate need of women entrepreneurs who will bring their unique perspectives to solving some of the world's biggest and most stubborn problems. This book is a rallying cry to encourage women to think big, to take their seats at the proverbial tables of power, and to build their own tables if necessary"--

Thinking Childhood And Time written by Walter Omar Kohan and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-06 with Philosophy categories.

Thinking, Childhood, and Time: Contemporary Perspectives on the Politics of Education is an interdisciplinary exploration of the notion of childhood and its place in a philosophical education. Contributors consider children’s experiences of time, space, embodiment, and thinking. By acknowledging Hannah Arendt’s notion that every child brings a new beginning into the world, they address the question of how educators can be more responsive to the Otherness that childhood offers, while assuming that most educational models follow either a chronological model of child development or view children as human beings that are lacking. The contributors explore childhood as a philosophical concept in children, adults, and even beyond human beings—Childhood as a (forgotten) dimension of the world. Contributors also argue that a pedagogy that does not aim for an “exodus of childhood,” but rather responds to the arrival of a new human being responsibly (dialogically), fosters a deeper appreciation of the newness that children bring in order to sensitize us for our own Childhood as adults as well and allow us to welcome other forms of childhood in the world. As a whole, this book argues that the experience of natality, such as the beginning of life, is not chronologically determined, but rather can occur more than once in a human life and beyond. Scholars of philosophy, education, psychology, and childhood studies will find this book particularly useful.

Thomas Austin Preston. Six foot four, skinny as a rake. He played poker with two US presidents - and drug lord Pablo Escobar; made a million dollars by the age of nineteen; and drove a golf ball a mile. Thomas Austin Preston - who was he? The world knows him better as the greatest gambler of all time: Amarillo Slim. Raised in Amarillo, Texas, Amarillo Slim lived the most daring, exciting and profitable life of any man of his time. He ran the biggest black-market operation in Europe, won the World Series of poker in 1972, was celebrated in songs and movies, and his picture hangs in City Hall, Las Vegas. He was a member of four Halls of Fame - and a legend in his lifetime. Because, most of all, Slim was a man who loved to gamble. He'd bet on anything - if the price was right. He rode a camel through the fanciest casino in Marrakesh and beat Evel Knievel at golf (with a hammer), but that was just the small stuff. In his finest hour, he took on the Chinese table tennis champion at his own game. Slim, of course, got to choose the bat. The choice? Coke bottles. The result? 21 - 0. Slim was a very happy man. A sensationally entertaining autobiography, this is the story of his extraordinary life - and the secrets of his even more extraordinary success. From Vegas to Colombia, Texas to London, welcome to the wonderful world of Amarillo Slim.
