The life of the average American can be summed up in one word: busy. Busy with work, busy with kids' activities, busy packing too many things into the day. While running ourselves ragged seems to be the norm, it's important to stop and ask ourselves: does it have to be this way? Every event in our day is the result of a decision we've made. So, instead of staying 45 minutes late at work to finish up an important email, how about deciding to go home and ask your child about his or her day? It can be as simple as deciding to put your phone away during a conversation with someone. Journey in the Present explores various ways to awaken a greater sense of self awareness and live more authentically. With each chapter containing inspiring anecdotes and powerful questions to trigger self-reflection, your journey toward mindfulness starts today. All net proceeds from Journey in the Present go to brain tumor & epilepsy research.

The pain of secretly enduring endless trauma is explored in this hard-hitting story of a young boy who suffered the crushing consequences of bullying, struggled through it, and survived. Like many children his age, Tom was subjected to endless harassment and could not find meaningful help. He was sick of life and himself, but his dilemma had really nothing to do with him. Tom's story is fascinating because despite all the hardships, the resilience of the human spirit withstood the test and eventually triumphed. Who is more culpable, himself, his family, or the system that allows bullying to flourish? How the problem developed, surfaced, and was ultimately resolved will take readers to a journey every parent and school system should be aware of. Tom's redemption and his parents' awakening add drama to this very timely and thought-provoking issue....

Voices Of Inquiry In Teacher Education written by Thomas S. Poetter and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-12-16 with Education categories.

This book is an attempt to show that preservice teacher knowledge is substantive and should be part of the wider database of knowledge about teaching and learning in the field of teacher education. From the perspectives of five prospective teacher interns and a teacher educator, this volume brings the experiences of students conducting research during preservice teacher education to life. Charged to conduct a semester long study in the school, the intern-authors studied classroom scenes and their own work, and wrote case studies depicting their experiences. Their pieces -- in their entirety -- compose the central chapters of the book and serve as examples of preservice teacher research. The surrounding chapters examine the interns' experiences of conducting research during their preservice internship year primarily from the perspective of a teacher educator who studied them and the scene throughout the experience. The teacher educator examines the interns' approaches to research and the processes they employed to conduct and complete their studies, the interns' professional growth as a result of their participation in the study, and the impact the project had on the program. This book fills the gaps that exist in the present literature on the use of teacher research during preservice by including the inquiry works of preservice teachers as examples of legitimate, important preliminary research in their own rights, and by addressing the complex issues of conducting this type of study during preservice from multiple perspectives, not just that of the university researcher. While some texts include the perspectives of students and even include portions of students' own work, this text takes the step of co-authorship, sharing the academic discourse with intern teachers who have produced experience and knowledge that are informative for the field of education as a whole and specifically for teacher education. The text attempts to combine many voices into one thorough, narrative approach, ultimately urging the reader to consider the possibilities of teacher research for advancing knowledge in the field and for enhancing the professional development of the participants.

Manhood written by Tom Fortson and has been published by Moody Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-07-01 with Religion categories.

"Be a Man." Perhaps you've heard these words before. What do they mean? For some, these words mean "don't cry," because real men don't show emotion. Or they might mean "tough it out," because men are to be strong, never weak. Tom Fortson suggests that these words mean something different, something more. God created man with a unique role, and called them to be sons of the King. According to Fortson, these truths must define what it means to be a man. Manhood: Let the Truth be Told walks through a biblical understanding of manhood to clear away the lies and replace them with truth. And with chapters like "Because Forever is a Long Time: The Battle for Eternity" and "Some Days You Wish You Never Left the Office: The Battle for Home," this message is not simply food for thought; it is armor for real life. The time is now for men to be men. Join Fortson today to discover what "be a man" really means.
