Qual è la relazione tra letteratura e rappresentazione degli spazi? In che modo la letteratura partecipa al cambiamento in atto nella percezione dei luoghi? Queste le domande da cui si è mossa la ricerca alla base di questo volume. Sappiamo che nel nostro tempo lo spazio è diventato centrale nella riflessione teorica: Spatial Turn, Raumtheorien, geocritica vengono qui utilizzate per orientarsi nel cambiamento in atto e a Berlino, attraverso la letteratura transnazionale di lingua tedesca, si cerca la matrice del rapporto tra scrittura e «spazio». Berlino, città senza centro, città rizo-matica, cifra del temporaneo ci offre una possibilità di cogliere l’intrinseco legame tra Grafie e luoghi, attraverso cui leggere anche il nesso tra creatività e potere. Le opere di due scrittrici, Emine Sevgi Özdamar e Terézia Mora, ci accompagnano in questa indagine. Questa letteratura viene qui definita nomade in relazione alle tesi di Braidotti, Deleuze e Guattari ma anche guardando a uno spazio urbano decostruito. Le opere di queste autrici mostrano la capacità della scrittura di creare una connessione tra interno ed esterno, o dimostrano l’impossibilità della relazione laddove ci siano sistemi, traumi che trasformano lo spazio vitale in un luogo di morte. La letteratura transnazionale manifesta la cifra nomade della relazione con lo spazio, nell’andare stesso vi è l’essenza dello stare, ma solo attraverso una scelta del soggetto si realizza la connessione con lo spazio. La messa in connessione, la possibilità dell’apertura alla relazione è affidata, infatti, alla capacità di scelta dei soggetti delle storie narrate. Le BerlinoGrafie mappano, quindi, nuove spazialità e forme di convivenza, mostrando il potenziale che la scrittura ha nel modificare lo spazio vissuto e le traiettorie possibili che l’uomo contemporaneo sta tracciando.

Tantôt furies, tantôt sorcières, les mères monstrueuses continuent-elles à être considérées comme des êtres contre nature ou la description de ces femmes, de leurs actes et motivations présumées, a-t-elle changé au cours les siècles ? De tout temps, la monstruosité des mères a suscité l’intérêt de la société. Déclenchant les débats éthiques, des déchaînements médiatiques, elle est aussi à l’origine d’un nombre impressionnant d’œuvres artistiques complexes. L’infanticide maternel est un acte incompréhensible qui a toujours fasciné et répugné à la fois... À partir de 1980, un autre regard semble s’être posé sur ce phénomène, les auteures féminins tentant de réécrire l’histoire de Médée en la disculpant. Cette étude de genre examine l'évolution de l'image de la mère monstrueuse à la lumière des changements actuels des représentations féminines et du traitement de faits d'actualité. EXTRAIT En effet, la perspective de l’infanticide permet de questionner plus largement, au fil des époques, les rapports entre femme et criminalité, femme et maternité. Les femmes ont de tout temps été minorisées par la machine judiciaire. L’imaginaire autour de la mère monstrueuse (la tueuse d’enfants, la meurtrière, la faiseuse d’ange ou encore la nourrice qui sombre dans la folie comme Jeanne Weber surnommée en 1906 « l’Ogresse de la Goutte d’Or ») contraste fort avec l’idée d’une femme qui serait par nature et par instinct éloignée de toute forme de violence, car elle est justement celle qui est censée donner la vie. Cette conduite criminelle spécifique liée à la nature et au rôle féminin, évoque aussi la peur d’une féminité déréglée qui représenterait une menace pour la sphère privée. L’attention médiatique semble nous suggérer que de plus en plus de femmes tuent leurs enfants. Cet engouement public ne se délecte pas seulement d’un acte très souvent désespéré mais essaie de consolider à travers son évocation massive un équilibre des forces politiquement genré. Ces « affaires polarisées », comme les appelle le journaliste belge Marc Metdepenningen, ne s’inscrivent pas simplement dans la mode actuelle des reality shows, mais ont été utilisées depuis le début de la presse écrite en tant que moyen pour « divertir » et influencer l’opinion du peuple. Dans son article repris dans la première partie de ce volume, Amélie Richeux analyse minutieusement la présentation des mères « contre-nature » dans les causes célèbres de la France du XIXe siècle. En réécrivant des cas judiciaires à l’attention du grand public, l’avocat Méjan influence subtilement ses lecteurs en soulignant l’horreur des crimes et la monstruosité des accusées. Assurément politique dans son commentaire des faits, il plaide pour la réinstauration des valeurs de l’Ancien Régime et notamment son système des classes. Un autre exemple de récit orienté est le recueil de Fournier qui tente dans une perspective plus progressiste d’expliquer les faits d’une façon plus scientifique. Durant la Belle Epoque, le journal Gil Blas est la manifestation de cette fabrication de discours à valeur morale et politique ciblant le grand public. Matthew Sandefer démontre parfaitement, à travers des textes littéraires de Balzac et de Maupassant, le changement de l’image de la mère meurtrière, qui symbolise à la fois une société en crise et la nécessité d’un changement de la condition féminine. Les mères indignes, ou « marâtres naturelles » pour utiliser une expression d’Elisabeth Badinter, constituent un véritable nœud traumatique dans la littérature francophone présentée dans la deuxième partie de cet ouvrage. La violence et le silence dans la relation mère-fille, la loi du pouvoir et la ténacité avec laquelle la mère insiste sur la transmission des lois patriarcales sont des thèmes récurrents chez différentes auteures.
