La polisemia che continua ad accompagnare il concetto di competenza e, di conseguenza, il suo riconoscimento e la sua valutazione, sia a scuola che in ambito lavorativo, rischia di vanificare il prezioso potenziale formativo che porta con sé. Perché questo non accada e la competenza personale diventi, invece, la manifestazione dinamica e situata dell’intreccio virtuoso tra il sapere e il fare riflessivo che ogni persona manifesta quando agisce “bene” per sé e per gli altri, a scuola, come nel lavoro, come nella vita personale, occorre riscoprirne la dimensione unitaria e integrale, che trova fondamento epistemologico nel principio dell’alternanza formativa. Questo libro segue questa prospettiva e cerca di mostrare come, così intesa, la competenza rappresenti un vero e proprio “ponte” educativo tra il mondo della formazione e quello del lavoro. Un altro elemento di attenzione è rappresentato dalla normativa nazionale che, su pressione delle politiche europee, ha introdotto l’alternanza scuola lavoro, il sistema di certificazione delle competenze non solo nei sistemi formali, ma anche non formali e informali e particolare attenzioni ai momenti delle transizioni lavorative. Il rischio di tutte queste pratiche è la loro riduzione ad adempimento burocratico e cartaceo. Il che ne segnerebbe il destino. Per questo, l’ultimo capitolo presenta alcune esperienze, tratte dal mondo della scuola e delle transizioni lavorative, che questo rischio hanno cercato di evitare.
