"Trail of Touch is a long term project related to the sense of touch in photography, and visual arts in general. Sight is the main sense used in photography, we usually don't touch images. In this project I wanted the images to me touched and recall our tactile nostalgia. Create a debate and tension between the need of touching and how social behaviour makes us restrict ourselves. Why the sense of touch is so ambiguous but also so necessary for our development as human beings. I realised that most of my images were very texturised and tactile, so I decided to use materials, coat liquid emulsion on them and turn them into tactile pieces. Avoiding touch in arts is so spread and internalised that audience didn't touch my pieces so the remedy was to make a book, the most tactile piece of art I could imagine. This book collects wood veneer, fabric, Japanese paper, Indian khadi paper, cork, and bioplastic. The images are cactus from the Barbican Centre in London. Plants that can't be touched without being hurt. They also create this tension between wanting to touch them and not being able to do so." -- Artist's statement.
