All things are in the act of becoming, an endless cycle transforming one form into another. Change is a constant, creation and destruction are both natural and inevitable; growth and decay are equivocal processes that simultaneously build up and tear apart. Intrigued by these forces I have created a body of work that explores this transition. Using a single object as a module then altering it eliminating the original form creating something new. Beginning with a simple organic volume that has evolved from the ceramic vessel, then introducing elements that intrude undermine and destroy. This juxtaposition of the geometric and the biomorphic is also animating, elevating, and uniting the object, process, and the material. Each one is a labeled experiment, cataloged remains of a transformation of form.

The first part of Form and Transformation looks critically at the conceptual structure of Darwinism and describes the limitations of the theory of evolution. The authors argue that a theory of biological form is needed to understand the structure of organisms and their transformations. The second part of the book explores such a theory by portraying organisms as developing and dynamic systems, within which gene action is understandable. The authors present a number of specific examples, including tetrapod limb formation and Drosophila development, to illustrate how these dynamic organisms produce generic forms.
