Es claro que la problemática jurídica del desarrollo rural está evolucionando rápidamente. Por esto, se hace necesario repensar el tipo de derecho agrario que requiere el país. Las prioridades han cambiado, los problemas agrarios de hoy son distintos, son nuevos, y están surtiendo un proceso de globalizalización, e inclusive de ecologización. En este sentido la obra de Pietro Romano Orlando refresca los modelos actuales del derecho agrario y lo inserta en las nuevas realidades internacionales. Ese su gran aporte a la problemática cambiante del derecho agrario internacional. En el primer capítulo del libro el profesor Romano Orlando se ocupa de los aspectos metodológicos de la investigación, y del fenómeno que él denomina "asociacionismo" en la agricultura europea; en el segundo, de la política agrícola comunitaria en el contexto internacional; en el tercero, de agricultura y comercio internacional; en el cuarto de agricultura y medio ambiente; en el quinto de agricultura y derechos humanos; y en el sexto y último, de derecho agrario y globalización. Todos los temas son abordados con gran ilustración y conocimiento y el lector puede disfrutar de esos detalles, que son el producto de la investigación que realizó el autor para poder concluir su libro.
