Análisis de la generación del primer código del siglo XX a través del estudio de las actas de debates de la comisión reformadora del código civil de 1852. De todos los volúmenes de nuestra Historia del Derecho Civil peruano hasta ahora publicados, el presente puede considerarse por su temática como el más propiamente "jurídico". Con ello, sin embargo, no pretendemos desanimar a los eventuales lectores de este libro que, más interesados en sus aspectos históricos, desconozcan la jerga forense, por lo que en la redacción del presente texto se ha procurado simplificar el lenguaje técnico hasta donde ha sido posible. Con todo, el propósito del trabajo es inequívoco: el análisis y valoración de los debates que antecedieron al establecimiento del código civil de 1936, de modo que la principal fuente histórico-jurídica directa e inmediata serán las actas de las sesiones, así como las consultas emitidas que condujeron a la promulgación del que es considerado por gran parte de los entendidos como el código civil más importante de la historia del Perú.
