My name is Dillon. I'm about to tell you something that I had kept secret for many years. My friends, family, and even my wife hadn't known up until now. The reason for me keeping the secret for so long was the fear of my life and that of my family. This information is 100% truthful and are all real accounts. None of these events that I'm going to explain are fabricated. This part of my "Diary" details my second trip with Gus. Almost a year has gone by since my last encounter with Gus. He took me through a wormhole that brought me into the 28th century. Together in the twenty eighth century we explored, and saw the most magnificent things I could ever imagine. I met with Gus's family, his wife and children, that I was actually shocked to find out that he even had. Gus had lured me into a risky mission to bring his wife and children back to the present day with me, that didn't work out as planned. Since then, my wife Anastasia and I had been taking care of Gus and his wife Ivanka's two children. My wife had no idea about what really happened to Gus and Ivanka or that they were even the parents of the two children. Months went by while I was waiting for Gus's return alongside with his wife, until finally one day, he made contact with me again...

Like inviting his buddy, Theo, who's sure to get into fun (and trouble) along the way. And if Dad wants a family road trip, then the family dog, Atticus, should get to come, too. What could go wrong? But when their truck breaks down, the family trip takes plenty of unexpected turns. Before they know it, they've commandeered an old school bus and joined forces with its cranky mechanic, Gus. Next, they pick up Mia, a waitress escaping a tense situation. Only sharp-eyed Atticus realizes that Theo is on the run from something bad—and someone is following them. With alternating chapters from both Ben and his dog, Atticus, this fast-paced book takes readers on an unpredictable ride that's all about family, friendship, and surprises.

Two years after earning a business degree with honors from the University of Colorado, Trent Newcomer decides to abandon his corporate job, sell his car, and travel around the globe with nothing more than what he can fit in a small backpack. His goal is simple: experience all that the world has to offer so he can then be satisfied with settling down to a normal life. Over the next year and a half, the adventures that find Newcomer and the people he encounters teach him more about the world and his own place in it than he could have ever imagined. From having a gun pulled on him in Vietnam and being jumped by a gang of men while trying to change money on Kenya's black market to experiencing more near-death bus rides than he can count, Newcomer soon discovers that the journey itself is much more meaningful than checking items off a to-do list. Part travelogue and part memoir, The Call of the World is a candid and insightful account of the challenges and joys of backpacking solo around the globe, as well as one young man's journey of personal discovery. The Call of the World has been recognized as a Medalist (Travel Essay) in the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards, as well as a Finalist (Travel/Travel Guide) in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
