That we are afraid is no revelation. Only God has the power to calm our fears and to make us courageous. But what happens when God refuses to meet you expectations? What happens when Jesus turns out to be more difficult to deal with, more serious, and more unpredictable than we once thought he was? Will we wait on him to answer us? Will we trust him when he seems to be making no sense? In our hurry to offer each other hope, have we neglected the true nature of the power and strength of God that makes him capable of helping us? In this inquisitive and honest work, Casey Hobbs determines to reacquaint us with the greatness of God and to draw us in to the goodness of God that only Jesus offers us.

TREMBLING HEART is a gorgeous collection of poems laced with artwork exploring the many manifestations of love: love of pets, friends, lovers, ourselves. It celebrates the journey we take and encourages us to let our trembling hearts fly as we take a journey that culminates with the realization that our deepest longing is for connection with our true and authentic self. Trembling Heart reminds us of the significant loves in our life and the importance of moving beyond attachment, conditioning, old concepts, and beliefs and into the knowing that we are love.

Kierkegaard On Faith And Love written by Sharon Krishek and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-07-23 with Philosophy categories.

Kierkegaard's writings are interspersed with remarkable stories of love, commonly understood as a literary device that illustrates the problematic nature of aesthetic and ethical forms of life, and the contrasting desirability of the life of faith. Sharon Krishek argues that for Kierkegaard the connection between love and faith is far from being merely illustrative. Rather, love and faith have a common structure, and are involved with one another in a way that makes it impossible to love well without faith. Remarkably, this applies to romantic love no less than to neighbourly love. Krishek's original and compelling interpretation of the Works of Love in the light of Kierkegaard's famous analysis of the paradoxicality of faith in Fear and Trembling shows that preferential love, and in particular romantic love, plays a much more important and positive role in his thinking than has usually been assumed.

The fear of God is a primary spiritual grace deposited in the redeemed and pardoned soul. Scripture is filled with directives in obedience before God based on godly fear because it is a principal grace; it is part of the beginning of grace. Why are not more Christian books taken up with the fear of the Lord? It is because at the outset, such seems to be very offensive to modern Christian sensibilities. And yet, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding,” (Prov. 9:10). Many Christians look to Christ like they look to a boyfriend or girlfriend, rather than as the holy God who deals with sin through infinite wrath on the cross. Christ directed his disciples to a holy fear of God (Matt. 10:28). Jesus is the loving Savior, but this is bound up in the astonishment and amazement and respect of God’s being and character in relation to sin and salvation. He is to be feared. What is godly fear? Jeremiah Burroughs will answer this more than adequately. He uses his primary text in Isaiah 66:2, “But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” Knowledge of the word of God produces and cultivates the fear of God in Spirit-endowed believers. It produces a trembling and contrite Christian. As a result, he will show that Scripture informs the pardoned soul to understand God in the light of holy fear and trembling, in turn that becoming a tender heart to follow the word and will of God, as he demonstrates further from 2 Kings 22:14, “Because thine heart was tender….” Holy dread and tenderness of heart are inseparably linked together as Gospel-Fear.

Gain new insight into panic and anxiety-related disorders! Awe and Trembling: Psychotherapy of Unusual States provides psychologists, psychotherapists, and clinical social workers with an overview of the symptoms and causes of panic. The book gives insight into how patients cope with anxiety to help you provide more sympathetic services to your clients. You will discover how to deal with panic in an integrative way rather than relying on medication or cognitively coping by rationalization. You will also discover current methods that will improve the lives of suicidal patients, such as talking the patient through the suicidal act and inspiring thought about what would happen and discussing what the patient intends for those that are left behind. Awe and Trembling offers effective techniques that will help you give better care to clients suffering from these difficult disorders. Compelling and informative, Awe and Trembling will help you recognize when panic in your patients is a breakthrough rather than an impending breakdown or collapse. You'll be able to help your patients find new possibilities for a better life, instead of living with the chaos that comes with anxiety. In Awe and Trembling, you'll find ideas that will help you assist your patients in overcoming anxiety and panic, such as: discovering ways to treat each patient as a living, breathing individual with his or her own personality and treatment needs examining the therapy session as a vehicle for meditative awakening and deeper self-understanding for your patients realizing that if you replace the isolation of panic with structure and connection using such techniques as breathing exercises or yoga, panic attacks can be controlled acknowledging that suffering has potentially liberating as well as debilitating dimensions discovering an integrated clinical model of understanding that addresses panic and anxiety from an existential perspective understanding that anxiety and panic often serve as opportunities for clients to examine the conflicts in their lives and within themselves to create a deeper, more authentic existence Awe and Trembling will show you new ways to help your clients on their journey toward wholeness and a more comfortable, rewarding life. This valuable book will provide you with a unique perspective on panic and awe to help your clients overcome their anxieties and heal themselves and their lives so they can regain their emotional and physical independence.
