Coming of Age and More is a collection of short stories about my Life. It is mostly about humorous things that I have done. There are a couple of stories that are a bit 'Heavy' so to speak. All of the stories in my book are as true and factual as my memory would allow. My thanks to my friends that have allowed me to write about them. It was a fabulous time to grow up and Come of Age.

This book is a collection of short stories, proverbs, questions, poems, songs and other miscellaneous items from a friend of mine. This person wishes to remain anonymous, those who know him will recognize him right away. The stories were inspired from the Bible but taken from a different perspective than usually seen. You may or may not enjoy them depending on your perspective. If you gain something from them, that's great. If not, discard what you have and move on. The proverbs are a collection from many people who have affected my life through the years, some are original. The stories are an attempt to get you to see things in a different light, from a different perspective. Most are based on the bible, as many writers of stories, songs and proverbs do. The bible has been the world's greatest book ever published, though it has been an awesome attempt to read and understand. Many things in it can be interpreted in many different ways, “A double edged sword”, all of which can be right or wrong, depending on your point of view. The real truth is that the bible in it's entirety is truth, it speaks of the truth, for the truth and by the truth. There have been those who have chose to write love stories, while others have chosen to write horror stories, both are in there. Both can be right or wrong depending on your perspective. Both can be the same story ! If you view the bible as love stories, it will come across as such most of the time. On the other hand, if you view it as horror stories it will come across as such, most of the time. It's sort of like the difference between God and Satan. Both are part of our lives, both affect our lives. This book will make some happy and offend others, not because of what's in it, but purely on their of view. This is true of anything that was ever written including the Bible ( and that includes all bibles ). I hope you enjoy it one way or the other or both. Maybe one day soon, verily soon, we can all be friends like this "Fren Da Mein”

My Life And Times Munshi Premchand written by Madan Gopal and has been published by Roli Books Private Limited this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-12-31 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

A unique 'autobiography'of one of the greatest storytellers of our times, Munshi Premchand, recreated from his works by the man regarded as 'Premchand's Boswell', Madan Gopal. Often compared to Gorky and Tolstoy, Premchand was not only a versatile writer of short stories, novels, dramas and essays, but also played an active role in the country's freedom movement. His stories took birth from the lives of the common people, their vicissitudes and deprivations, as well as their small joys and victories. Premchand rebelled against narrow religious bigotry and, in fighting it through his writing, he imbued a whole generation with the idea of a new social order of justice and equality. The author, Madan Gopal, has based his narrative on a study of almost everything of consequence written by or on Premchand in Hindi and Urdu, including numerous unpublished letters written by and to Premchand, which provide an intimate knowledge of the man, the writer, and the thinker. Madan Gopal's deep study of the writer whom he reveres has enabled him to tell the story of his life almost as the master storyteller would have told it himself. For all aficionados of Munshi Premchand, this is a book that must find a place on their shelves.

WINNER OF THE NOBEL PRIZE© IN LITERATURE 2013 A New York Times Notable Book A Washington Post Notable Work of Fiction A Best Book of the Year: The Atlantic, NPR, San Francisco Chronicle, Vogue, AV Club In story after story in this brilliant new collection, Alice Munro pinpoints the moment a person is forever altered by a chance encounter, an action not taken, or a simple twist of fate. Her characters are flawed and fully human: a soldier returning from war and avoiding his fiancée, a wealthy woman deciding whether to confront a blackmailer, an adulterous mother and her neglected children, a guilt-ridden father, a young teacher jilted by her employer. Illumined by Munro’s unflinching insight, these lives draw us in with their quiet depth and surprise us with unexpected turns. And while most are set in her signature territory around Lake Huron, some strike even closer to home: an astonishing suite of four autobiographical tales offers an unprecedented glimpse into Munro’s own childhood. Exalted by her clarity of vision and her unparalleled gift for storytelling, Dear Life shows how strange, perilous, and extraordinary ordinary life can be.

I Know This Much Is True written by Wally Lamb and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-06-03 with Fiction categories.

With his stunning debut novel, She's Come Undone, Wally Lamb won the adulation of critics and readers with his mesmerizing tale of one woman's painful yet triumphant journey of self-discovery. Now, this brilliantly talented writer returns with I Know This Much Is True, a heartbreaking and poignant multigenerational saga of the reproductive bonds of destruction and the powerful force of forgiveness. A masterpiece that breathtakingly tells a story of alienation and connection, power and abuse, devastation and renewal--this novel is a contemporary retelling of an ancient Hindu myth. A proud king must confront his demons to achieve salvation. Change yourself, the myth instructs, and you will inhabit a renovated world. When you're the same brother of a schizophrenic identical twin, the tricky thing about saving yourself is the blood it leaves on your bands--the little inconvenience of the look-alike corpse at your feet. And if you're into both survival of the fittest and being your brother's keeper--if you've promised your dying mother--then say so long to sleep and hello to the middle of the night. Grab a book or a beer. Get used to Letterman's gap-toothed smile of the absurd, or the view of the bedroom ceiling, or the influence of random selection. Take it from a godless insomniac. Take it from the uncrazy twin--the guy who beat the biochemical rap. Dominick Birdsey's entire life has been compromised and constricted by anger and fear, by the paranoid schizophrenic twin brother he both deeply loves and resents, and by the past they shared with their adoptive father, Ray, a spit-and-polish ex-Navy man (the five-foot-six-inch sleeping giant who snoozed upstairs weekdays in the spare room and built submarines at night), and their long-suffering mother, Concettina, a timid woman with a harelip that made her shy and self-conscious: She holds a loose fist to her face to cover her defective mouth--her perpetual apology to the world for a birth defect over which she'd had no control. Born in the waning moments of 1949 and the opening minutes of 1950, the twins are physical mirror images who grow into separate yet connected entities: the seemingly strong and protective yet fearful Dominick, his mother's watchful "monkey"; and the seemingly weak and sweet yet noble Thomas, his mother's gentle "bunny." From childhood, Dominick fights for both separation and wholeness--and ultimately self-protection--in a house of fear dominated by Ray, a bully who abuses his power over these stepsons whose biological father is a mystery. I was still afraid of his anger but saw how he punished weakness--pounced on it. Out of self-preservation I hid my fear, Dominick confesses. As for Thomas, he just never knew how to play defense. He just didn't get it. But Dominick's talent for survival comes at an enormous cost, including the breakup of his marriage to the warm, beautiful Dessa, whom he still loves. And it will be put to the ultimate test when Thomas, a Bible-spouting zealot, commits an unthinkable act that threatens the tenuous balance of both his and Dominick's lives. To save himself, Dominick must confront not only the pain of his past but the dark secrets he has locked deep within himself, and the sins of his ancestors--a quest that will lead him beyond the confines of his blue-collar New England town to the volcanic foothills of Sicily 's Mount Etna, where his ambitious and vengefully proud grandfather and a namesake Domenico Tempesta, the sostegno del famiglia, was born. Each of the stories Ma told us about Papa reinforced the message that he was the boss, that he ruled the roost, that what he said went. Searching for answers, Dominick turns to the whispers of the dead, to the pages of his grandfather's handwritten memoir, The History of Domenico Onofrio Tempesta, a Great Man from Humble Beginnings. Rendered with touches of magic realism, Domenico's fablelike tale--in which monkeys enchant and religious statues weep--becomes the old man's confession--an unwitting legacy of contrition that reveals the truth's of Domenico's life, Dominick learns that power, wrongly used, defeats the oppressor as well as the oppressed, and now, picking through the humble shards of his deconstructed life, he will search for the courage and love to forgive, to expiate his and his ancestors' transgressions, and finally to rebuild himself beyond the haunted shadow of his twin. Set against the vivid panoply of twentieth-century America and filled with richly drawn, memorable characters, this deeply moving and thoroughly satisfying novel brings to light humanity's deepest needs and fears, our aloneness, our desire for love and acceptance, our struggle to survive at all costs. Joyous, mystical, and exquisitely written, I Know This Much Is True is an extraordinary reading experience that will leave no reader untouched.

"I think that laughter is the best medicine that we have, especially with all the problems that we have to endure these days! That should include being able to laugh at yourself comfortably! We all do things that at the time they are happening, may not seem real funny, but why be embarrassed about it? We are human and make human mistakes! Nobody is perfect, so why not laugh about it? That is why I wrote this book, so that the people who read it might have a good laugh about some of the funny things that have happened in my life! Plus, as far as the poems go, I have always enjoyed inspirational poems, especially my very favorite writer in the whole world, Helen Steiner Rice, she is great! She always makes you feel as though she is writing her poems especially for you! Some make you happy, some make you cry, but they always seem to hit a personal note, and that is an awesome talent to have!" Deborah Lorraine Olsen
