Torino, oggi. Susanna Marino, studentessa neolaureata e squattrinata, riceve l’invito per un esclusivo vernissage nella Galleria Subalpina. Il gallerista Tommaso D’Anza inaugura infatti La fanciulla, la morte, il diavolo, mostra antologica sul misterioso pittore Lorenzo Alessandri. Il critico d’arte e docente universitario Arturo Ginzburg, che sarebbe dovuto intervenire al vernissage, viene ritrovato barbaramente ucciso nel suo studio. Poco dopo il delitto, una studentessa del professor Ginzburg scompare nel nulla. Francesca Sanniti, ruvido ma sensibile commissario, si trova a indagare su un intricato caso nel quale la stessa Susanna Marino viene coinvolta. Un giovane giornalista e una misteriosa medium conducono Susanna in un viaggio attraverso una Torino nebbiosa e gozzaniana, in cui nulla è ciò che sembra. Oscuri omicidi, forse di carattere rituale, colpiscono la città, e pare esista un vecchio film perduto, Sortilegio di Nardo Bonomi, che qualcuno ha tutto l’interesse di tenere celato. Susanna Marino e il commissario Sanniti si trovano coinvolte in un oscuro enigma, la cui soluzione affonda nel viola, in tutto quel viola... Cristiana Astori è nata ad Asti e vive a Roma. Laureata in psicologia, è autrice della Trilogia dei colori (Tutto quel nero, Tutto quel rosso, Tutto quel blu, 2011-2014) edita dal Giallo Mondadori, a cui è seguito Tutto quel buio (Elliot, 2018). Nel 1999 ha ricevuto il Premio Ferrero per la Critica Cinematografica; attualmente lavora per le Biblioteche di Roma. Ha anche tradotto diversi autori tra cui Jeffery Deaver, Douglas Preston, Richard Stark e la saga di Dexter. In campo fumettistico, ha pubblicato la graphic novel L’amore ci separerà – Love will tear us apart (De Falco, 2002), ha sceneggiato il Dylan Dog Color Fest n. 11 (Sergio Bonelli Editore, 2013) e le avventure steampunk di The Professor (Erredì Grafiche Editoriali). La sua raccolta di racconti Il Re dei topi e altre favole oscure (Alacran, 2006) è il primo libro italiano a cui Joe R. Lansdale abbia dedicato una frase di lancio.

Go Southwest, Old Man,, a sort of personal remake of 'Go West, Young Man', the founding episteme of the American nineteenth century, conciliates these two souls (well, not to be pretentious, let's simply say two sides) that have actually always lived in harmony. This is a book generated by a quarter of a century spent wandering around the canyons and deserts of Arizona, Colorado, Utah and, above all New Mexico, with a view to penetrating the by now universal legend of the West, approaching the cultures (English, Hispanic and native American), and mastering the literature. The slant is composite: melding the scholarly with the informative and the travel journal, and the writing is composite too, because the book speaks English and Italian. In his five-volume series The Symphonic Repertoire, the late A. Peter Brown explores the symphony from its 18th-century beginnings to the end of the 20th century. In Volume 1, The Eighteenth-Century Symphony, 22 of Brown's former students and colleagues collaborate to complete the work that he began on this critical period of development in symphonic history. Nel centro di Milano si nasconde la nostra migliore autrice dall’anima anglosassone. Ironica ed elegante, con un gusto tutto suo per le morti ben riuscite, uno sconfinato amore per i libri, e uno stile molto riconoscibile. Poi ci sono personaggi che sembrano appena usciti da un buon libro di paura. E c’è la nebbia…

Viola è attraente, sa truccarsi e vestirsi, le piace piacere. La partenza improvvisa di Mia aggrava il senso di solitudine, portando Viola a diventare protagonista di una "caccia all'uomo sbagliato", in una spirale di incontri sempre più distruttivi, in cui gioca col fuoco e si gioca la vita. Sua e altrui. Viola però non smette, non si sottrae, non sa dire di no: perché ormai è una serial lover. Mangia di tutto e accoglie tutti, e come è capace di nutrirsi per giorni solo di cioccolato così è capace di portarsi a casa uno sconosciuto incontrato al bar o in un supermercato. Il viaggio in questa bulimia di sensazioni e sapori è a tratti drammatico, a tratti divertente e ironico: perché Viola è una creatura particolare, con uno sguardo diverso sulle cose, tutto suo, e la forza di fare quel passo di danza in più per uscire dal cerchio dell'infelicità. Ma, per vivere davvero, "non essere infelici" non basta: come si fa a essere felici? Esiste qualcuno che ha la ricetta dell'amore e della felicità? Proprio nel momento in cui la serial lover abbassa le difese, davanti a una persona che ai suoi occhi non può essere "territorio di caccia", scopre un sentimento assurdo, pazzo e pieno di vita: tanto grande da vincere il tempo e ridare sapore e senso a tutto. Giovanna Bandini scrive un romanzo coraggioso, che racconta senza veli la fame d'amore di una ragazza di oggi ma anche il misterioso splendore dell'incontro tra un uomo e una donna alla ricerca di sé. Un viaggio attraverso il corpo e il suo nutrimento, la storia autentica e forte di una trentenne che cammina per le strade delle nostre città e che alla fine trova se stessa in un luogo sospeso pieno di profumi, nei gesti semplici di chi prepara un piatto caldo per coloro che ama.
