Our Lives In Korea And Korea In Our Lives written by George Ogle and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-02-21 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Because he prayed in public for eight men who were tortured, forced to make false confessions and were sentenced to death by South Korea’s military dictatorship, in 1974 George Ogle was deported from the country where he had worked as a missionary for 20 years. Two months later when Dorothy and the four Ogle children left Korea, friends and colleagues commissioned them to “Go tell our story.” After the South Korean people ended the military dictatorship in 1987, the story changed from the struggle for democracy and human rights to a story of the Korean movement for peace and reunifi cation of their divided nation. Compelling and comprehensive, Our Lives in Korea and Korea in Our Lives is not only the Ogles’ personal memoirs of living in South Korea from 1954-1974 and later visiting both the North and South, it is an effort to tell the story of the Korean people as the authors experienced it directly, and as it has come to them by closely following the evolving history through almost 60 years. The book highlights the hope and promise of President Kim DaeJung’s “Sunshine Policy” of constructive engagement with North Korea and is written to give readers around the world a vision for ending the Korean War to bring peace, prosperity and reconciliation to all of the Korean people.

This is the unforgettable story of the life of Mang Eui-Soon. He died as a prisoner of war in an innocuous accident just hours before his release. He lived only twenty-six years and eight months but he impacted countless other lives. He was a man marked by God from childhood. He knew early on that he would be called to suffer but he didn't know where, how or why. This is a breath-taking story of how God used him as a POW to reach hundreds, perhaps thousands, who might never have heard the good news of Jesus any other way, reaching the "least of these" for the glory of God. His story is an inspiration for everyone who, though we may never suffer in the way he suffered, are still called to experience harsh circumstances in our life that call us to deeply trust God and see God's hand in everything that happens.

The Korean Missionary Movement written by Steve Sang-Cheol Moon and has been published by William Carey Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-29 with Religion categories.

This book provides the most thorough, penetrating analysis of trends in Korean missions to date. Seasoned researcher Steve Sang-Cheol Moon maps the relatively recent rise and explosive growth of the Korean missionary movement, studying the mission force and significant themes in its experience over a twenty-five-year period. These articles and papers supply data on every facet: mission fields and ministry foci; finances; age, marriage, family, and general demographics; training and credentials; burnout and attrition; education of missionary children; leadership trends; and global partnership. These chapters do not merely catalogue statistics—they probe beneath the surface to ask hard questions and set priorities for Korean missions. Moon explores painful subjects such as the 2007 hostage incident involving short-term workers in Afghanistan, and chronic concerns like workaholism and missionaries’ retirement. Ultimately, however, he finds much to commend and celebrate, tracing God’s providence in making Korea, within the span of a few decades, a dynamic leader in global missions.

The Korean Pentecost And The Sufferings Which Followed written by William Newton Blair and has been published by Banner of Truth this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1977 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

In 1977 the Trust published this remarkable account of the first 60 years or so of the modern church in Korea (mainly North Korea). William Blair (1876- 1970), in his first term of missionary service, was at the centre of the great revival of 1907, and his account of this and the events leading up to it forms the first part of the book. Blair includes a thrilling description of how the gospel first came to Korea. The account is then taken up by his son-in-law, Bruce Hunt (1903- 92) born in Pyengyang, now the capital of North Korea who shows how the revival was followed by a baptism of suffering under the Japanese and Communists. During his forty-eight years of missionary service in Korea, Hunt personally knew many of the Korean Christian martyrs. This new edition of The Korean Pentecost has been completely re-typeset, and includes twelve additional illustrations.
