Until she heard about Ethan Parrish: a sweet, sizzling-hot former college football player, turned into a vampire against his will. Wandering the deserted streets of Morgan Creek, Wyoming, Ethan’s sure he’ll be alone forever—a monster like him deserves nothing else. Fall in love with the addictive, suspenseful love story between a teenage girl and a vampire with the book that sparked a "literary phenomenon" and redefined romance for a generation (New York Times). Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite. It's here! #1 bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with the highly anticipated companion, Midnight Sun: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view. "People do not want to just read Meyer's books; they want to climb inside them and live there." -- Time "A literary phenomenon." -- The New York Times

What can we learn from our fascination with love stories? How can we use this to better our relationships and cultivate excitement in our lives?Dr. Niloo Dardashti, producer of Into the Twilight Haze (a documentary about the Twilight phenomenon), explores these questions in an insightful manner that everyone can relate to. Using these issues as a vehicle to unpack common relationship challenges, she engages the reader by motivating a process of reflection and self-discovery, while explaining: How to decipher what is a “me” issue versus an “us” issue, what ingredients synergistically create passion and fulfillment in relationships, how to increase a sense of stimulation and aliveness in your own life, how to balance the need for getting satisfaction from within versus through an "other," and how to balance seeking stimulation/novelty and embracing the sameness of everyday life. If you are struggling in a relationship or need to recreate the magic you once had, this book is for you. Twilight and Fifty Shades fans will better understand the addictive quality of the sagas and their motivations, bringing new meaning to the books and movies. Men will find this insight very helpful, getting a deep look into the thoughts and desires of women, allowing them to be better partners or better able to attract more meaningful relationships. Women will understand what often gets in the way of finding the love they want. Individuals who want to feel more alive, inspired, and connected with their selves will learn how to begin or continue that journey in a meaningful way. Lastly, mental health practitioners will find the insights helpful in dealing with their patients and inspire thoughtful analysis of their own.

The philosopher Hegel claimed that self-consciousness is desire. That which we covet reveals our true nature. Some lost souls wander the world with their heart's desire anchored. By daylight, they repress their wanton hunger for fear of revealing their true natures. It is only in the darkness of the twilight hours that the mask slips and desire will have its way. Read thirteen tales written and collected by Jason Andrew of lust, dark desires, and magic from 2006 to 2010.

Through detailed analysis of the relationship between lead characters, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, this thesis explores the Twilight Saga's representation of sexuality. In the four novels and five film adaptations, the series presents female sexuality as threatening to the patriarchal status-quo, while simultaneously depicting a version of male sexuality that is fragile and in need of protecting. By examining Edward's fears about his sexuality, and therefore cultural anxiety about the sexual behaviour of adolescent males, this work engages in a close examination of the way that Bella is represented as a threat to Edward and the patriarchal structure of his family. To evaluate the impact of the saga on attitudes of fans, this study provides a critical analysis of a selection of Twilight fan fiction. These stories represent a feminization of writing and a path to the creation of what Hélène Cixous calls 'écriture feminine,' or women's writing, via collaborative and reciprocal story telling that allows the audience to participate in the creation of the story and therefore shape the meaning of the text.

At its centre is Pauline Manford, indefatigable hostess and do-gooder, who rules her family with ruthless charm, Dexter the generous lawyer who is her second husband, Arthur her ramshackle first husband, Nona, her gentle daughter, and son Jim, married to the exqisite Lita. When the preposterous Marchesa arrives on the scene, trailing debts and problems, Pauline strives with increasing desperation to keep her family together, too busy to recognise the threatening truth until it explodes in a tragi-comic catastrophe.

Since the publication of Twilight in 2005, Stephenie Meyer's four-book saga about the tortured relationship between human heroine Bella Swan and her vampire love Edward Cullen has become a world-wide sensation--inciting screams of delight, sighs of derision, and fervent pronouncements. Those looking deeper into its pages and on screen can find intriguing subtexts about everything from gender, race, sexuality, and religion. The 15 essays in this book examine the texts, the films, and the fandom, exploring the series' cultural reach and offering one of the first thorough analyses of the saga.
