Os fármacos são apresentados como substâncias capazes de interferir nos processos bioquímicos para restabelecer a dinâmica do fluxo metabólico. A célula viva é um sistema aberto que troca matéria e energia com o meio externo, estabelecendo um fluxo contínuo e dinâmico de metabólitos capaz de responder a sinais do próprio organismo e do meio externo.
