Este livro aborda a vida do ervateiro paranaense Caetano José Munhoz (1817-1877), investiga as suas origens familiares e refere-se aos seus descendentes, dentre os quais incluem-se ex-governadores do Paraná e outras figuras importantes da sociedade local. Durante mais de cem anos, a partir da terceira década do século XIX, essa sociedade teve no mate a sua principal fonte de riqueza. Caetano ocupou um lugar de relevo nas fases iniciais dessa atividade econômica. Ele foi o segundo a implantar engenho de erva mate no planalto curitibano. E o primeiro, em Curitiba, a utilizar o vapor como fonte de energia. Além de ervateiro, foi tenente-coronel da Guarda Nacional, exerceu por duas vezes o mandato de deputado à Assembleia Provincial e as funções de juiz municipal substituto. O livro procura assim caracterizar -- a partir dos fatos relacionados não só à vida de Caetano mas também à de seus familiares, especialmente seus ancestrais -- o contexto sócio-econômico e político deles, que é o da comarca de Curitiba, subordinada à província de São Paulo, e após 1853, o da província do Paraná emancipada. No tempo, o trabalho se estende desde os fins do século XVIII até o final do Império, e no espaço, do litoral à serra acima , abrangendo assim a região do chamado Paraná Tradicional. O livro apoia-se em diversas fontes historiográficas, especialmente em ampla pesquisa realizada nos periódicos da época.

A dimensão Socioambiental do Direito Fundamental ao Trabalho Digno evidencia a premência da tutela integrada do direito à saúde psicofísica no ambiente laboral e do direito ao meio ambiente de trabalho equilibrado em face do uso do assédio organizacional como estratégia gerencial do trabalho humano. A partir da Constituição de 1988, tanto o sujeito trabalhador quanto a qualidade do meio ambiente laboral foram alçados ao centro de proteção do ordenamento jurídico-constitucional. Essa perspectiva de análise revela “A dimensão Socioambiental do Direito Fundamental ao Trabalho Digno” e evidencia a premência da proteção concomitante do trabalhador, do valor social do trabalho e do meio ambiente de trabalho.
