Quello che spinge un autore a raccontare i tratti salienti della vita di una persona è, essenzialmente, un’intima esigenza di comunicazione, il far sapere agli altri, contemporanei o posteri che siano, le cose che quella persona ha fatto, ma soprattutto perché le ha fatte e come le ha fatte. Sicuramente nell’animo di chi scrive, s’intrecciano anche altri sentimenti e considerazioni, come l’ammirazione, il desiderio di ricordare avvenimenti della propria infanzia e per ultimi, ma non certo ultimi, l’affetto e le profonde radici che lo legano ad una persona cara della propria famiglia. La decisione di raccontare uno spaccato della vita di mio padre, è scaturita sicuramente e in parte anche condizionata da tutti questi fattori di cui ho fatto cenno in precedenza, ma forse, anche da molti altri i quali neanch’io so connotare con esattezza, in quanto essi appartengono alla sfera della psiche e ai reconditi meandri dell’animo umano. Una cosa, in ogni modo, ho per certa e della quale non posso dubitare: questa rievocazione, una volta che egli non c’era più, sentivo profondamente di doverla a mio padre, soprattutto per onorarne la memoria.
