The three books of Under the Pines of Deep East Texas, all in this one volume, tell the stories of five sisters and one brother, their roots, and their branches. Book One tells the stories of their ancestors as they marry, have families, and build their lives in the Texas Pineywoods. The descendants finally merge into one marriage between a man and a woman who meet in the cottonfields of Chillicothe, Texas, and return to East Texas to establish a small chicken farm. Book Two tells the stories of the chicken farmer, his wife, and their children as they marry and have families of their own. Book Three continues the siblings' stories and adds, sometimes heartwarming and sometimes humorous, tales of their children and grandchildren. In each generation, you may laugh with them and cry with them as they journey through blessings, fun and humor, as well as tragedies, sicknesses, separations, and deaths. Through these happenings, both good and sorrowful, the Corbells look to their faith in God, the abundant supplier of all needs. As Book Three comes to an end, the Corbells continue to celebrate family and hold each other close, hoping the family bond won't break, through all the blessings and all the losses in years to come.

In 2021, Texas Country Reporter celebrates its fiftieth season on the air. Broadcast every week on stations across Texas, it focuses on “ordinary people doing extraordinary things.” And at the center of it is Bob Phillips, the show’s creator and host—an erstwhile poor kid from Dallas who ended up with a job that allowed him to rub elbows with sports figures, entertainers, and politicians but who preferred to spend his time on the back roads, listening to less-famous Texans tell their stories. In this memoir, Phillips tells his own story, from his early days as a reporter and his initial pitch for the show while a student at SMU to his ongoing work at the longest-running independently produced TV show in American television history. As we travel with Phillips on his journey, we meet Willie Nelson and former Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry; reflect on memorable, unusual, and challenging show segments; experience the behind-the-scenes drama that goes on in local television; witness the launching of an annual festival; and discover the unbelievable allure of Texas, its culture, and, especially, its people. Spanning generations, A Good Long Drive is proof that life’s journey really is a destination unto itself.

Images in the Pines is more than a book of photographs and poems. It is a book of memories of life in East Texas in the late 1800s and early 20th Century. Newton County, as this book illustrates, is unique within itself, yet so similar to all of East Texas in its history, its culture and its people. Even if you didn't grow up here, you'll find that these photographs and poems will rekindle memories and images of a simpler time, a time where the pace of life was slower and the world didn't seem so rushed or complicated. It is the hope of the authors that you will read and re-read these poems and look at the photographs, and each time you do, you will find a new meaning, new insight and inspiration in them. The ideas in this book should be a constant reminder of a part of Texas where the values of home, family, friends, hard work and community are as important today as they were yesterday.
