Poetromantics is a collection of over 100 poetries celebrating love, romance, women, relationships and life. Poetromantics is all about capturing and romanticizing small beautiful moments, stories, conflicts and conversations that everyone of us go through in life. Walking through the walks of life, sometimes we forget to celebrate the beautiful moments with our loved ones, the laughter, the smile, the memories and stories that are etched for life even if we take different directions. Sometimes, we do forget to celebrate the people around us, especially women, when they were created to be celebrated. The poetries celebrate women, their beauty, their thoughts, their happiness, their anger and everything. The poetries are simply written by romanticizing the small moments of everyone that needs to be celebrated. Every poetry has a story, an emotion, a thought, a moment that is romanticized and celebrated. The poetries are mostly drawn from moments than people, the incidents, the moments around us that we as beings of this world hold on to though we take different paths and become different human beings. The poetries are inspired from people, real life stories, music, films and sometimes just by staring at a blank paper. The poetries are relatable to people with their experiences they have been through, or will be through. The poetries reflect the unsaid thoughts when we go through these beautiful moments of life. Poetromantics is a simple poetry book for everyone, to celebrate and cherish their loved ones, to get inspired, to change and fall in love. Poetromantics is a book to celebrate love which holds the mankind together.

The Routledge Handbook of Identity and the Environment in the Classical and Medieval Worlds explores how environment was thought to shape ethnicity and identity, discussing developments in early natural philosophy and historical ethnographies. Defining ‘environment’ broadly to include not only physical but also cultural environments, natural and constructed, the volume considers the multifarious ways in which environment was understood to shape the culture and physical characteristics of peoples, as well as how the ancients manipulated their environments to achieve a desired identity. This diverse collection includes studies not only of the Greco-Roman world, but also ancient China and the European, Jewish and Arab inheritors and transmitters of classical thought. In recent years, work in this subject has been confined mostly to the discussion of texts that reflect an approach to the barbarian as ‘other’. The Routledge Handbook of Identity and the Environment in the Classical and Medieval Worlds takes the discussion of ethnicity on a fresh course, contextualising the concept of the barbarian within rational discourses such as cartography, medicine, and mathematical sciences, an approach that allows us to more clearly discern the varied and nuanced approaches to ethnic identity which abounded in antiquity. The innovative and thought-provoking material in this volume realises new directions in the study of identity in the Classical and Medieval worlds.

In 1700, a Venetian priest, Fra Benedict Loredan, compiles an assembly of documents - letters, written confessions, top-secret state files, diary excerpts, pieces of a secret chronicle - which together tell the story of two lovers caught up in a dangerous and controversial revolutionary movement which attempted to do away with the two-tiered city of Venice: Leonardo da Vinci's architectural dream to segregate the rich and the poor described in his Notebooks and realised in this novel. At the centre of the narrative are two written confessions, one by a young girl from an aristocratic family - Loredana Loredan Contarini - who writes of her disastrous marriage to a sadomasochistic tyrant and her subsequent involvement with a revolutionary Friar - himself the second confessor. As both struggle to tell their tales and confess their sins, we are shown around the city of Venice as it might have been in the sixteenth-century and given pieces of a narrative which together form an explosive whole.

According to some chronicles of the Spanish Conquest, the violent arrival of the Conquerors to the Andes in the sixteenth century led to sex-dissident people who lived outside the dominant European cisheteropatriarchal model being burned at the stake. This act burned more than the flesh; it also charred practices, ways of life, and textualities, leaving an emptiness and a trauma that would mark the future literatures of the Andean region. This book cannot repair those pre-sodomite texts and bodies. It seeks instead to reconsider the value of the ash, a metaphor that allows for a critical and contradictory reading of sexual dissidences in the Andean region in the twentieth century, beyond both multiculturalism and the wake of a globalized LGBTI movement. Through a comparative analysis, and drawing on theoretical perspectives such as anticoloniality, feminisms, and cuir (rather than queer) theories, the book aims to understand the value of a series of complex texts in which dissident subjectivities, practices, and desires help to broaden the understanding of the Andean. Winner of the prestigious Casa de las Américas prize, the book was praised by the jury for the paradoxical and provocative way that it struggles against the abyss of past destruction and reflects on the contribution of the Global South to the often uniformist thinking around the body and its intersections.

This book is not what you think. "Vile Acts of Evil - Banking in America" does not discuss your bank's usurious interest rates or ridiculous fees - irritants you know too well - and the title reflects neither joke nor hyperbole. This is the story of money, greed, and power in America. If you dare continue, you will soon realize, that the vast underbelly of our American history - the recessions, depressions, panics, and wars - the enormous amount of needless human turmoil, suffering, and carnage - the millions of wasted lives over hundreds of years - are but byproducts of extremely wealthy bankers seeking further wealth - mere corporate externalities, like black smoke stack soot, not worthy of a bookkeeping entry. Truly, Vile Acts of Evil.

This bestselling, seminal book - a general survey of Europe in the era of `Rennaisance and Reformation' - was originally published in Denys Hay's famous Series, `A General History of Europe'. It looks at sixteenth-century Europe as a complex but interconnected whole, rather than as a mosaic of separate states. The authors explore its different aspects through the various political structures of the age - empires, monarchies, city-republics - and how they functioned and related to one another. A strength of the book remains the space it devotes to the growing importance of town-life in the sixteenth century, and to the economic background of political change.
