The 39 full papers and 3 short papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 73 submissions. The papers feature four Workshops: The 1st Asian Workshop on Usable Security, AsiaUSEC 2020, the 1st Workshop on Coordination of Decentralized Finance, CoDeFi 2020, the 5th Workshop on Advances in Secure Electronic Voting, VOTING 2020, and the 4th Workshop on Trusted Smart Contracts, WTSC 2020. The AsiaUSEC Workshop contributes an increase of the scientific quality of research in human factors in security and privacy. In terms of improving efficacy of secure systems, the research included an extension of graphical password authentication. Further a comparative study of SpotBugs, SonarQube, Cryptoguard and CogniCrypt identified strengths in each and refined the need for improvements in security testing tools. The CoDeFi Workshop discuss multi-disciplinary issues regarding technologies and operations of decentralized finance based on permissionless blockchain. The workshop consists of two parts; presentations by all stakeholders, and unconference style discussions. The VOTING Workshop cover topics like new methods for risk-limited audits, new ethods to increase the efficiency of mixnets, verification of security of voting schemes election auditing, voting system efficiency, voting system usability, and new technical designs for cryptographic protocols for voting systems, and new way of preventing voteselling by de-incentivising this via smart contracts. The WTSC Workshop focuses on smart contracts, i.e., self-enforcing agreements in the form of executable programs, and other decentralized applications that are deployed to and run on top of specialized blockchains.

This open access book presents a person-centered exploration of student profiles, using variables related to motivation to do school mathematics derived from the IEA’s Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) data. Statistical cluster analysis is used to identify groups of students with similar motivational profiles, across grades and over time, for multiple participating countries. While motivational variables systematically relate to school outcomes, linear relationships can obscure the diverse makeup of student subgroups, each with varying combinations of motivation, emotions, and attitudes. In this book, a person-centered analysis of distinct and meaningful motivational profiles and their differences on sociodemographic variables and mathematics performance broadens understanding about the role that motivation characteristics play in learning and achievement in mathematics. Exploiting the richness of IEA’s TIMSS data from many countries, extracted clusters reveal consistent, as well as certain nuanced patterns that are systematically linked to sociodemographic and achievement measures. Student clusters with inconsistent motivational profiles were found in all countries; mathematics self-confidence then emerged as the variable more closely associated with average achievement. The findings demonstrate that teachers, researchers, and policymakers need to take into account differential student profiles, prioritizing techniques that target skill and competence in mathematics, in educational efforts to develop student motivation.

Some organizations that fund programs for students will want a report demonstrating the program’s success. Determining whether a program is effective requires expertise in data collection, study design, and analysis. Not all project directors have this expertise—they tend to be primarily focused on working with schools, teachers, and students to undertake program activities. Collecting and obtaining student-level data may not be a routine part of the program. This book provides an overview of the process for evaluating a program. It is not a detailed methodological text but focuses on awareness of the process. What do program directors need to know about data and data analysis to plan an evaluation or to communicate with an evaluator? Examples focus on supporting college and career readiness programs. Readers can apply these processes to other studies that include a data collection component.
