In this book, I wanted to give you, the reader, a different perspective on Jesus's life and resurrection through the four gospels. My perspective is coming from a prodigal child of God""someone who grew up going to church and knowing about the Bible but never truly knowing what it really meant. In the last few years of my life, I have come to know God through Jesus, and I wanted to share that knowledge. I have found similar books, but they are from professional pastors, evangelists, theologists, and so on. I have yet to find a book on Jesus's life, death, and resurrection from a simple Christian in simple language. Throughout this book, I have gone through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and gave you my understanding of Jesus's teachings. Everything is biblical. My hope is for the reader to have that aha! moment while reading this book. I pray that the reader gets a better understanding of who Jesus is and what He has done for us (His lambs), for He is truly the Son of God, the Messiah and our Savior!

The Resurrection Of Jesus written by Bernard Brandon Scott and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Religion categories.

The event of Jesus resurrection is like the event of creation: There were no eye-witnesses. So how does one make sense of the story of the resurrection or rather stories, for not one but many diverse reports survive from early Christianity? Brandon Scott suggests that we must begin by erasing all Christian art about the resurrection from our memory. And then forget all the sermons we heard at Easter. The best way to understand the resurrection, he argues, is to arrange the texts chronologically and observe how the story itself developed. The Resurrection of Jesus: A Soucebook begins with just such a list, compiled with commentaries by Robert W. Funk. It proceeds to a report of the Jesus Seminar s votes on the resurrection, followed by a collection and discussion by Robert Price of resurrection stories found in the Greek culture of Jesus day, and an in-depth study by Arthur Dewey of a little-known resurrection story in the Gospel of Peter. The final essays in the volume, by Roy W. Hoover and Thomas Sheehan, explore the origins of belief in Jesus resurrection and help put the pieces back together again, in ways that make sense in the modern world.

We can't promise perfection, but we're sure gonna try! Our goal is to bring you high quality Christian publications at rock bottom prices. Description: A Restatement of the grounds of belief in the great fact of the Lord's Resurrection seems called for in view of the changed forms of assault on this article of the Christian faith in recent years. It is difficult, indeed, to isolate this particular fact, outstanding as it is, from its context in the Gospel history taken as a whole, every point in which is made subject to a like minute and searching criticism. On the other hand, the consideration of the evidence for the Resurrection may furnish a vantage ground for forming a better estimate of the value of the methods by which much of the hostile criticism of the Gospels is at present carried on. As preliminary to the inquiry, it is desirable that a survey should be taken of the changed lights in which the question appears in past and in contemporary thought. Time was, not so far removed, when the Resurrection of Jesus was regarded as an immovable corner-stone of Christianity. A scholar and historian like the late Dr. Arnold, of Rugby, summea up a general belief when he wrote: "I have been used for many years to study the history of other times, and to examine and weigh the evidence of those who have written about them; and I know of no fact in the history of mankind which is proved by better and fuller evidence of every sort, to the understanding of a fair inquirer, than the great sign which God has given us, that Christ died and rose again from the dead." It will be recognized by any one familiar with the signs of the times that this language could not be employed about the state of belief to-day.

[This] is the most important question regarding the claims of the Christian faith. Certainly no question in modern religious history demands more attention or interest, as witnessed by the vast body of literature dealing with the Resurrection. James I. Packer says it well in his response to this debate: 'When Christians are asked to make good their claim that this scheme is truth, they point to Jesus' resurrection. The Easter event, so they affirm, demonstrated Jesus' deity; validated his teaching; attested to the completion of his work of atonement for sin; confirms his present cosmic dominion and coming reappearance as Judge; assures us that his personal pardon, presence, and power in people's lives today is fact; and guarantees each believer's own reembodiment by Resurrection in the world to come.' The Apostle Paul considered the Resurrection to be the cornerstone of the Christian faith. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, the whole structure, Christianity, collapses. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:14-17, 'And if Christ has not been raised, 'our preaching is useless and so is you faith.' More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God. . . . And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile [emphasis added].' The Christian faith-and its claim to be Truth-exists only if Jesus rose from the dead. The heart of Christianity is a living Christ.

What difference should the resurrection of the crucified Jesus make to Christian thought, to our sense of the cosmos, and our understanding of humanity itself? Despite the centrality of the resurrection in the New Testament and the Creed, the practical answer of many Christians might be: not much. In this light, Anthony Kelly sets out to affirm the resurrection as the living center of Christian life and the basis for its theological methods and themes. Without the resurrection, he writes, ""hope would be a repressive optimism, or an accommodation to routine despair."" Acknowledging that the resurrection, like a work of art, eludes any single point of view, Kelly shows why it remains the key to Gods relationship to Jesus and ourselves, the most critical horizon from which to grasp the meaning and pattern of life, and the basis of our ultimate hopes.
