C'est au milieu de ces traits que les Chinois tracent leur chemin. "La Chine n'est pas un marché mais une société !" C'est ainsi que j'ai commencé bien des conférences données à de nombreux étudiants français et européens de passage en Chine. Ils étaient tout imprégnés des cours de "Business in China" donnés dans leurs écoles de commerce. Je les invitais à avoir un autre regard en leur suggérant celui que j'ai appris à porter sur la Chine. Phrase provocante et libératrice à la fois ! Alors que le 18e congrès du Parti communiste chinois va à l'automne 2012 mettre une nouvelle équipe au pouvoir pour dix ans, la Chine est en train de devenir la première puissance économique du monde. Ce livre permet de se préparer à vivre le "Siècle chinois".
