The book contains survey and research articles devoted mainly to geometry and harmonic analysis of symmetric spaces and to corresponding aspects of group representation theory. The volume is dedicated to the memory of Russian mathematician, F. I. Karpelevich (1927-2000). Of particular interest are the survey articles by Sawyer on the Abel transform on noncompact Riemannian symmetric spaces, and by Anker and Ostellari on estimates for heat kernels on such spaces, as well as thearticle by Bernstein and Gindikin on integral geometry for families of curves. There are also many research papers on topics of current interest. The book is suitable for graduate students and research mathematicians interested in harmonic analysis and representation theory.

The authors give a complete classification of intertwining operators (symmetry breaking operators) between spherical principal series representations of and . They construct three meromorphic families of the symmetry breaking operators, and find their distribution kernels and their residues at all poles explicitly. Symmetry breaking operators at exceptional discrete parameters are thoroughly studied. The authors obtain closed formulae for the functional equations which the composition of the symmetry breaking operators with the Knapp-Stein intertwining operators of and satisfy, and use them to determine the symmetry breaking operators between irreducible composition factors of the spherical principal series representations of and . Some applications are included.

Representations Of Reductive P Adic Groups written by Anne-Marie Aubert and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-16 with Mathematics categories.
This book consists of survey articles and original research papers in the representation theory of reductive p-adic groups. In particular, it includes a survey by Anne-Marie Aubert on the enormously influential local Langlands conjectures. The survey gives a precise and accessible formulation of many aspects of the conjectures, highlighting recent refinements, due to the author and her collaborators, and their current status. It also features an extensive account by Colin Bushnell of his work with Henniart on the fine structure of the local Langlands correspondence for general linear groups, beginning with a clear overview of Bushnell–Kutzko’s construction of cuspidal types for such groups. The remaining papers touch on a range of topics in this active area of modern mathematics: group actions on root data, explicit character formulas, classification of discrete series representations, unicity of types, local converse theorems, completions of Hecke algebras, p-adic symmetric spaces. All meet a high level of exposition. The book should be a valuable resource to graduate students and experienced researchers alike.

Nolan Wallach's mathematical research is remarkable in both its breadth and depth. His contributions to many fields include representation theory, harmonic analysis, algebraic geometry, combinatorics, number theory, differential equations, Riemannian geometry, ring theory, and quantum information theory. The touchstone and unifying thread running through all his work is the idea of symmetry. This volume is a collection of invited articles that pay tribute to Wallach's ideas, and show symmetry at work in a large variety of areas. The articles, predominantly expository, are written by distinguished mathematicians and contain sufficient preliminary material to reach the widest possible audiences. Graduate students, mathematicians, and physicists interested in representation theory and its applications will find many gems in this volume that have not appeared in print elsewhere. This volume presents modern trends in the area of symmetries and their applications based on contributions to the Workshop "Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics" held in Sofia, Bulgaria (on-line) in June 2021. Traditionally, Lie theory is a tool to build mathematical models for physical systems. Recently, the trend is towards geometrization of the mathematical description of physical systems and objects. A geometric approach to a system yields in general some notion of symmetry which is very helpful in understanding its structure. Geometrization and symmetries are meant in their widest sense, i.e., representation theory, algebraic geometry, number theory, infinite-dimensional Lie algebras and groups, superalgebras and supergroups, groups and quantum groups, noncommutative geometry, symmetries of linear and nonlinear partial differential operators, special functions, and others. Furthermore, the necessary tools from functional analysis are included. This is a big interdisciplinary and interrelated field. The topics covered in this Volume are the most modern trends in the field of the Workshop: Representation Theory, Symmetries in String Theories, Symmetries in Gravity Theories, Supergravity, Conformal Field Theory, Integrable Systems, Quantum Computing and Deep Learning, Entanglement, Applications to Quantum Theory, Exceptional quantum algebra for the standard model of particle physics, Gauge Theories and Applications, Structures on Lie Groups and Lie Algebras. This book is suitable for a broad audience of mathematicians, mathematical physicists, and theoretical physicists, including researchers and graduate students interested in Lie Theory.

Unitary Representations Of Reductive Lie Groups written by David A. Vogan and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1987-10-21 with Mathematics categories.
This book is an expanded version of the Hermann Weyl Lectures given at the Institute for Advanced Study in January 1986. It outlines some of what is now known about irreducible unitary representations of real reductive groups, providing fairly complete definitions and references, and sketches (at least) of most proofs. The first half of the book is devoted to the three more or less understood constructions of such representations: parabolic induction, complementary series, and cohomological parabolic induction. This culminates in the description of all irreducible unitary representation of the general linear groups. For other groups, one expects to need a new construction, giving "unipotent representations." The latter half of the book explains the evidence for that expectation and suggests a partial definition of unipotent representations.

Symmetry in Geometry and Analysis is a Festschrift honoring Toshiyuki Kobayashi. The three volumes feature 35 selected contributions from invited speakers of twin conferences held in June 2022 in Reims, France, and in September 2022 in Tokyo, Japan. These contributions highlight the profound impact of Prof. Kobayashi’s pioneering ideas, groundbreaking discoveries, and significant achievements in the development of analytic representation theory, noncommutative harmonic analysis, and the geometry of discontinuous groups beyond the Riemannian context, among other areas, over the past four decades. This third volume of the Festschrift contains original articles on branching problems in representation theory of reductive Lie groups and related topics. Contributions are by Ali Baklouti, Hidenori Fujiwara, Dmitry Gourevitch, Masatoshi Kitagawa, Salma Nasrin, Yoshiki Oshima, and Petr Somberg.

Relative Aspects In Representation Theory Langlands Functoriality And Automorphic Forms written by Volker Heiermann and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-01 with Mathematics categories.
This volume presents a panorama of the diverse activities organized by V. Heiermann and D. Prasad in Marseille at the CIRM for the Chaire Morlet event during the first semester of 2016. It assembles together expository articles on topics which previously could only be found in research papers. Starting with a very detailed article by P. Baumann and S. Riche on the geometric Satake correspondence, the book continues with three introductory articles on distinguished representations due to P. Broussous, F. Murnaghan, and O. Offen; an expository article of I. Badulescu on the Jacquet–Langlands correspondence; a paper of J. Arthur on functoriality and the trace formula in the context of "Beyond Endoscopy", taken from the Simons Proceedings; an article of W-W. Li attempting to generalize Godement–Jacquet theory; and a research paper of C. Moeglin and D. Renard, applying the trace formula to the local Langlands classification for classical groups. The book should be of interest to students as well as professional researchers working in the broad area of number theory and representation theory.
