Nearly all metaphors in the Gospel according to John relate to ancient family imagery. Thus, the disciples are born of the Father; the Father provides them with bread and drink (water); He educates them and protects them and a dwelling is prepared for them, and so on. This family imagery, which is interwoven throughout the Gospel in a complex network, provides a key to the understanding of the message of the Fourth Gospel. In this volume, after exploring numerous state-of-the-art theories on metaphor, a customised metaphor theory is developed from the Fourth Gospel itself, which can be applied to the analysis of the Gospel as a whole. The theory is based on two of the best-known metaphors in the Fourth Gospel: I am the Good Shepherd, and I am the True Vine. Subsequently, all other metaphors are analysed according to this theory.

The American dream of a free world will be defeated, if Christianity will be defeated in USA. USA cannot survive unless the current perceptions of freedom and secularism undergo a drastic change. There is freedom to promote almost everything except the Christian truth. Ten Commandments are banned. But yoga is promoted at all levels. This kind of selective discrimination against the truth will destroy the very foundations of any society. Strange motivations of the anti-supernatural secularist lobby in the governmental institutions and their complicity in side-lining Christian faith cannot be ruled out. Thus ironically the undefeatable America tends to defeat itself. In its rejection of Christian truth and values, USA made truth a lie, and the lie a truth. If the current trends of self-hatred of Christian faith by higher criticism and liberal theology and destruction of churches continue, in 20 years USA will be overrun by the values and culture of Hinduism and Islam. And USA will go down in history as the most powerful empire, which had the best values in its custody since the days of its foundation, but subjected itself to a silent death, executed by its experts, and enjoyed by its people who went after thrillers, fantasies, romances, and other vain imaginations, neglecting the truth. Remember, it was the hatred to Christian values that instigated the anti-supernatural liberal theology from within and without the church, which ultimately resulted in the Nazi Holocaust. Beware, when the Christian faith and values are suppressed, the very survival of the societies at large, is endangered. This is the lesson of the entire world history.

Ecumenism has obscured the truth of the bible and the church. Ecumenism is against the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and his gospel. Ecumenicals are against the Christian mission and evangelism. Visible organizational unity of the church and also the unity of all other religions are their major objectives. Hence the unification of the religious groups is falsely considered as the mission of the Church. The contemporary false ecumenism is the embodiment of the degeneration of the concept of unity in spirit to organizational unity. It is the solution of man, not of God. It is the master stroke of devil which plunged the Church deep into unbelief. Emphasis is shifted from the Biblical mission of evangelism to efforts toward mobilizing a visible Church organization. All energy is spent on the organizational affairs of the Church. Evangelism was replaced by Church management. The modern ecumenical liberal theology is influenced by the philosophies of the world. Here preference is given to the views of men not of god. Ecumenism takes the unfortunate and cowardly stand that since other views do not accept us, we must change and adopt some of their beliefs, conglomerate or syncretize, so that we can move toward a peaceful coexistence. This means the ecumenical want the Christians to surrender our convictions to those who have a different set of beliefs. Their marathon dialogues with other faiths ultimately end up in compromising or even denying the uniqueness of Christ and declaring moratorium on the proclamation of gospel. Modern ecumenical theology is pluralistic, relativistic, subjectivistic, inclusivistic and universalistic for destroying the objective and exclusive claims of Jesus Christ. New age is in the Church under the garb of modern liberal theology. Liberal theology facilitates the infiltration of the new age movement and pantheistic mysticism into the church through environmentalism. Environmental protection including love and concern for animals are major issues on the agenda of the ecumenicals. Modern liberal theology is the product of the new age philosophy. It has deviously misdirected the mission of the church into social work, environmental protection, and ecumenism. There is relationship between contemporary ecumenical movement, one world religion, antichrist and the ideology of liberal theology. Ecumenism is the program for the unity of world religions for the rule of false prophet and antichrist. Ecumenicals are the agents of antichrist for forming the world religion by fusing Christianity with other religions. The world religious system will try its level best, through all subtle ways and means, to eliminate the pure gospel from the face of the earth. True unity cannot be accomplished by pretending that there are no differences, but only by recognizing and respecting those differences, while focusing on the great truths of Christian faith. Here in this book, one of the biggest attacks on the Christian truth is exposed.

“A striking and radical rereading of [Kant’s first Critique] through the concept of epigenesis . . . Mensch’s reading is bold and innovative.” —Radical Philosophy The towering achievement of Immanuel Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason has long overshadowed his other interests in natural history and the life sciences, which were considered separate from his theoretical philosophy—until now. In Kant’s Organicism, Jennifer Mensch draws a crucial link between these spheres by showing how the concept of epigenesis—a radical theory of biological formation—lies at the heart of Kant’s conception of reason. As Mensch argues, epigenesis was not simply a metaphor for Kant but centrally guided his critical philosophy, especially the relationship between reason and the categories of the understanding. Offsetting a study of Kant’s highly technical theory of cognition with a mixture of intellectual history and biography, Mensch situates the epigenesis of reason within broader investigations into theories of generation, genealogy, and classification, and against later writers and thinkers such as Goethe and Darwin. Distilling vast amounts of research into a concise and accessible book, Mensch offers one of the most refreshing looks not only at Kant’s famous first Critique but at the history of philosophy and the life sciences as well.

This study deals with the postmodern philosophy of language as developed mainly by French authors as R. Barthes, J. Derrida and J.-F. Lyotard. The four chapters of the first part are theoretical and relate the literary concepts of postmodernity, poststructuralism and deconstruction to the practice of biblical exegesis. One of the important conclusions is that deconstruction affects both diachronic and synchronic approaches of texts. Each chapter closes with -not suggestions but- implications for a postmodern, deconstructive strategy of reading. The four chapters of the second part apply this postmodern, deconstructive strategy of reading to the Fourth Gospel as a whole (chapter five), to John 6 (chapter six), to John 17 (chapter seven) and to John 21, 24-25 (chapter eight). This deconstructive reading shows the differential and apophatic character of Saint John's Gospel.

Mission As Integrated Witness written by Jae-Suk Lee and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-05-25 with Religion categories.
This study aims to read Jesus's foot washing narrative missionally (John 13:1-38). A missional reading is identical to a missional hermeneutics based on the literary-theological interpretation of the text. John uses sending language and formulae, and the frame of "as . . ., so . . ." throughout the whole Gospel, which clarifies Jesus's and his disciples' mission as integrated witness. In this literary context, the foot washing narrative signifies the integrated witness of Jesus and the disciples. The narrative consists of two parts: one, Jesus's symbolic action for his death, and the other, for its interpretation for the disciple community. Jesus's death, as his unique mission, results in purifying both his disciples and the world so that they might dwell in the holy union with the triune God. The disciples are sent into the world. Just as Jesus did, so must they proclaim Jesus and his teachings. Also, they should bear witness to him by living Jesus's life-pattern of self-giving, sacrificial love, and humble service. Their verbal proclamation as evangelism and life-witness cannot be separated to testify to Jesus and their identity. Finally, today's Christians, specifically Evangelicals, are invited to participate in the Johannine mission as the integrated witness of evangelism and life-witness.
