The book is based on facts in which author has attempted some answers to the question, which many Americans have been quietly asking themselves since 11th September, 2001 - "Why do they hate us?" The strength of USA as a nation, as a society, as a military, economic and technological power, is too well known and author has desisted from repeating these on the simplistic assumption that the dislike which certain groups harbour for this giant is merely an expression of the "envy" which poor cousins usually display for their rich relations. The author exposes the American life that is known to exist but has seldom been explored by the Americans and by others. The range of subjects covered is impressive - stretching from support for dictators worldwide, arms trade, the drug trade, destabilization of democratic governments and the response to international treaty obligations. etc. Religious bigots who object to Darwin in schools, to abolition of death penalty and to gun control laws, those who fire-bomb abortion clinics or go on a rampage because a jury acquits or convicts a person of a particular skin colour find their place. The American judiciary, which has had its dark moments ranging from the infamous Dred Scot Case to Florida Election, also finds its share. The author has called the book a "wake-up-call" for Americans.

Racism, a biting and unyielding virus, is the cankerworm that has shaken the entire world to the very roots. Over time, it has separated us, led to violence, caused untold death tolls, hardships, and worse of all, led to a crippling fear that can, in turn, lead to worse consequences if not dealt with accordingly. We are all humans, with a right to life and fair treatment regardless of the differences in our colors. Our colors are works of art that are linked to varying compositions of the melanin pigment. The pigmentation does not define us. It does not dictate how we act or react, and definitely, it should not be the yardstick to measure who gets fair treatment and who does not. So, why does racism exist? Should it continue to go unchecked? Take a journey into the author's mind as he uncovers our nation's systemic problems with social injustice.

I penned this book with a four-fold purpose in mind: To raise the blinds; to pull back the curtains; to open a window through which those seeking to understand what it is like to be Black in America could peer through. And in doing so, afford them an opportunity to walk along, what will be for them, an imaginary road that is filled with twists and turns, potholes and pitfalls, strongholds and stumbling blocks. A road that is all too real and all too often traveled by Blacks in America. To destroy the myth of Black inferiority and to educate on Black history. Black history does not begin with slavery in America but is an ancient history full of innovation, artisanship, higher level learning, culture, civilization and so much more. To raise the hope of generations to come so that they will never feel defeated but will live victoriously knowing that not only is their present and future great but that they come from a history of greatness. To help pave the road to healing and forgiveness for this nation; to help heal its soul and in doing so help to heal the soul of Blacks in America.

Unmasked written by Paul Holes and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-04-26 with True Crime categories.

From the detective who helped catch the Golden State Killer, a memoir about investigating America's toughest cold cases, and the rewards - and toll - of a life spent solving crime. For a decade, from 1973, The Golden State Killer stalked and murdered Californians in the dead of night, leaving entire communities afraid to turn off the lights. Then he vanished, and the case remained unsolved. In 1994, when cold-case investigator Paul Holes came across the old file, he swore he would unmask GSK and finally give these families closure. Twenty-four years later, Holes fulfilled that promise, identifying 73-year-old Joseph J. DeAngelo. Headlines blasted around the world: one of America's most prolific serial killers had been caught. That case launched Paul's career into the stratosphere, turning him into an icon in the true-crime world. But while many know the story of the capture of GSK, until now, no one has truly known the man behind it all. In UNMASKED, Paul takes us through his memories of a storied career and provides an insider account of some of the most notorious cases in contemporary American history, including Laci Peterson's murder and Jaycee Dugard's kidnapping. But this is also a revelatory profile of a complex man and what makes him tick: the drive to find closure for victims and their loved ones; the inability to walk away from a challenge - even at the expense of his own happiness. This is a story about the gritty truth of crime solving when there are no 'case closed' headlines. It is the story of a man and his commitment to his cases, and to the people who might have otherwise been forgotten.

Imagining America written by Alan M. Ball and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-09-09 with History categories.

In Imagining America, historian Alan M. Ball explores American influence in two newborn Russian states: the young Soviet Union and the modern Russian Republic. Ball deftly illustrates how in each era Russians have approached the United States with a conflicting mix of ideas—as a land to admire from afar, to shun at all costs, to emulate as quickly as possible, or to surpass on the way to a superior society. Drawing on a wide variety of sources including contemporary journals, newspapers, films, and popular songs, Ball traces the shifting Russian perceptions of American cultural, social, and political life. As he clearly demonstrates, throughout their history Russian imaginations featured a United States that political figures and intellectuals might embrace, exploit, or attack, but could not ignore.
