The unmet need of family planning can be explained as the gap between individual contraceptives behavior and individual fertility preference. This study aimed to investigate the determinants of unmet need of family planning, and explore the associations of unmet need with predisposing, reinforcing and enabling factors, however this researcher has attempted to identify the various situations regarding unmet need in the context of the study, which can be representative of the rural setting of any developing country in Asia. This cross sectional study was carried out in Syanja a rural district, of western Nepal, the population consisted of 295 Married Women of Reproductive Age (MWRA) aged from 15 to 49 years. A clustered random sampling technique was used to select the sample group. Descriptive statistics along with chi-square test was applied to compute the association between variables. A set of structured questionnaires were designed to collect the data. The data were collected from Jan. 19th to Feb. 14th, 2014 in eight village development committees of Syanja district in Nepal. The result of this study mostly focused on the unmet need which was analyzed through two different methods, on the basis of the WHO definition of unmet need and on the basis of contextual approach. According to the WHO definition, 11 percent of unmet need was identified whereas unmet need on the basis of contextual study was 54 percent. Eventhough the status of current users were good (61.2 percent) the unmet need was still high. Mostly, this is because of the improper choice of family planning methods. About 80% of respondents had a history of early marriage (before 20 years). Mean age of marriage was 19 ซ2.4 years. Significant association was seen between age group, education and number of living children (

The Population Situation Analysis (PSA) provides the basis for an integrated appraisal of the population and reproductive health dynamics and their impacts on poverty, inequality and development. By integrating a micro and macro analytical approach, the population situation analysis clarifies the interactions between individual behaviour and demographic dynamics. The Population Situation Analysis (PSA) responds to demand by countries that international cooperation should promote national capacity-building and recognize national ownership and leadership as prerequisites for development, in accordance with the principles agreed at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Millennium Declaration. The Understanding Research series focuses on the process of writing up social research. The series is broken down into three categories: Understanding Statistics, Understanding Measurement, and Understanding Qualitative Research. The books provide researchers with guides to understanding, writing, and evaluating social research. Each volume demonstrates how research should be represented, including how to write up the methodology as well as the research findings. Each volume also reviews how to appropriately evaluate published research. Focus Group Discussions addresses the challenges associated with conducting and writing focus group research. It provides detailed guidance on the practical and theoretical considerations in conducting focus group discussions including: designing the discussion guide, recruiting participants, training a field team, moderating techniques and ethical considerations. Monique Hennink describes how a methodology section is read and evaluated by others, such as journal reviewers or thesis advisors. She provides readers with guidance on specific aspects of presenting research findings, such structuring narrative accounts, developing an argument, using quotations, reporting focus group interaction, visual presentation formats, and strategies for grounding study results. She describes the challenges in assessing focus groups and details practical strategies for assessing scientific rigor. The book includes case study examples of field research across a range of disciplines and international contexts. Hennink concludes the volume with an overview of current debates relating to the evaluation of qualitative research, suggesting ways to critique the research design, methodology and results of focus group research.

Universal access to safe, reliable energy is a necessary condition for providing the poor with safe water and sanitation, for maintaining adequate standards of living, and for achieving any of the Millennium Development Goals. The Asian Development Bank recognizes the importance of electricity and water access for the poor and has committed to providing such access by establishing the Energy for All and Water for All initiatives. While broad efforts aimed at regulatory reform and increasing energy and water access may be helpful, targeted interventions, measures, and approaches are often needed to ensure that the poor benefit from these efforts. This publication identifies specific infrastructure and utility service reform measures that can be taken to advance the interests of the poor.
