Jahrhunderts, Note: 1,3, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Institut für Philosophie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Mittelpunkt meiner Arbeit steht das Kunstverständnis Jean-Paul Sartres. Hier möchte ich vor allem die Position Sartres vom Kunstwerk als imaginärem Phänomen untersuchen. Trotz der großen Vielfalt seiner Themen - Phänomenologie, Ontologie, Existenzphilosophie, Politik, Psychologie uvm. - haben seine philosophischen Werke, Essays, Reden, Dramen und Romane explizit oder implizit immer wieder die Kunst zum Gegenstand. Eine Ästhetik in einem systematischen Sinne hat er allerdings nicht verfasst. Daher ist es schwierig, ihn auf eine Theorie festzulegen, da er manchmal Jahre später Gedanken in einen neuen, aktuellen Zusammenhang gestellt hat. Dennoch gibt es Konstanten, die ich herausstellen möchte. Ich beginne damit, den Gedanken Lambert Wiesings zu erklären, dass zwischen Phänomenologie und Kunst eine innere Verwandtschaft bestehe. Dabei geht es mir nicht um eine Analyse der Theorien Wiesings. Ich möchte seine Gedanken im Laufe meiner Arbeit dahingehend nutzen, vom Verhältnis von Kunst und Phänomenologie zum Kunst-Verständnis des Phänomenologen und Existenzphilosophen Sartre überzuleiten. Denn Sartres ästhetische Theorie ist eine phänomenologische. Wiesing stellt sich die Frage, warum sich die Phänomenologie mit der Kunst - vor allem mit der avantgardistischen - so schwer tut. Hier möchte ich kurz die semiotische und die materialistische Position vorstellen. Im Hauptteil meiner Arbeit geht es mir um die Position Sartres, der sich von diesen beiden Ansätzen abgrenzt. Diese Gegenüberstellung ist nützlich, um zu zeigen, dass Sartre der Kunst eine Funktion sui generis geben will, die bei den eben genannten Positionen für ihn nicht gegeben ist. Anschließend lege ich Sartres Bedingungen für den Kunststatus eines Werkes dar - seien es ein Roman oder ein Bild. Im Vordergrund meiner Untersuchungen steht dabei sein Essay „Was ist Literatur?“, aber ich behalte seine weiteren Publikationen zum Thema Literatur, Malerei und damit Kunst im Allgemeinen dabei im Blick. Was ist Kunst für Sartre? Welche Rolle spielt bei ihm der Künstler? Welche der Rezipient? Welche ausschließliche Funktion hat das Phänomen Kunst bei ihm? Schließlich werde ich einige kritische Anmerkungen zu Sartre machen und hier auf mögliche Auswege im Werke seines Kollegen und philosophischen Gesprächspartners Maurice Merleau-Ponty verweisen.

This Ingardenia volume is the second in the Analecta Husserliana series that is entirely devoted to the phenomenology of Roman Ingarden. The first was volume IV (1976). Twenty years after Ingarden's death, this volume demonstrates that the Polish phenomenologist's contribution to philosophy and literary scholarship has received world-wide attention. His ideas have proven especially fruitful for the definition of the structure of the literary work of art and the subsequent recognition of its characteristic features. Of all the early phenomenologists who were students of Husserl, it is Ingarden whose work has faithfully pursued the original tenet that language "holds" the essence of the life-world "in readiness" (bereit halten). To investigate this premise with the rigor of a science, as Husserl had envisioned for phenomenology, was Ingarden's life work. That Ingarden did not quite reach his ambitious goal does not diminish his unquestionable achievement. The understanding of the nature of the literary work of art has increased enormously because of his analyses and aesthetics. The Polish phenomenologist investigated above all the work of art as a structure of necessary components which define and determine its nature. That the artistic ingredient was shortchanged under those conditions should not be surprising, particu larly since Ingarden usually kept a purist's philosophical distance from the concrete detail of the material under consideration. He was not concerned with individual works of art but with the principle that was shared by all of them as the defining feature of their being.

Studies on different aspects of Roman Ingarden's Philosophy have been published during the last thirty years. They were meant partly to in vestigate the contribution of that thinker to phenomenological philoso phy, which was then dominant in WestemEurope, partly to arouse interest in a philosopher who was, at that time, practically unknown. The publication by the present editor of For Roman Ingarden: Nine Essays in Phenomenology, a Festschrift for his 65th birthday, marked the beginning of an interest in his thought. Subsequently, Ingarden has lectured abroad, and a number of his hitherto inaccessible Polish works have been made available, some translated into German and some even into English. This has led to further studies of his thought. However, the majority of the papers published have until now been mainly introductory. This volume offers for the first time a series of systematic studies in Ingardenian philosophy, which, it is hoped, will supply a general framework as well as a foundation for future research in this wide and difficult field.
